Job Description

Sr. Project Controls Specialist - Cost Lead Houston, TX | Onsite | Long-Term Opportunity iSphere is looking for a Sr. Project Controls Specialist who knows project costs have a funny way of staying on budget right up until somebody updates the forecast. This role serves as the Cost Lead within an integrated client and contractor project controls team supporting large capital projects. The work revolves around budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, change management, accruals, commitments, and helping project teams understand where things stand financially before the monthly reporting meeting turns into a blame game. You''ll be the person people call when the numbers don''t tie out, the forecast suddenly moved by several million dollars, or somebody asks, "Can you explain this chart?" and the room goes suspiciously quiet. What they''re really looking for:
  • 10-15 years of project cost controls experience
  • Strong forecasting and budget management experience
  • Experience with change management, accruals, commitments, and cost performance reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Power BI and Power Query experience
  • Ability to work effectively within both client and contractor organizations
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills Oil & Gas experience is preferred, but they''re more interested in somebody who understands project controls and can quickly figure out where the money is going, where it''s supposed to be going, and why those two things aren''t always the same.
This role supports monthly forecasting, variance analysis, performance reporting, governance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives across the project organization. The right person for this role probably enjoys spreadsheets more than most people think is healthy. They like chasing down numbers, finding the story behind the variance, and catching problems before they become expensive lessons learned presentations.
