Job Description
Choate USA is seeking an experienced Commercial Project Manager to oversee the administrative, financial, and contractual management of commercial landscape and irrigation construction projects. This role supports field Superintendents and is responsible for protecting project schedule, cost control, and overall profitability. This is not a field superintendent position; however, regular jobsite presence is required to support field operations, coordinate with General Contractors, and ensure alignment between project documentation and field execution. The role is primarily office-based and focused on contracts, documentation, cost control, and coordination with General Contractors. Direct landscape construction management experience is not required. However, experience working for or with General Contractors in a commercial construction environment is required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage project budgets, billing, change orders, and financial controls
- Assist with the preparation and review of pay applications, cost reports, and job cost projections.
- Review contracts, plans, specifications, and scope requirements
- Coordinate schedules, sequencing, and manpower needs with field Superintendents
- Manage RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Communicate directly with General Contractors, owners, inspectors, and vendors
- Protect company standards related to documentation, cost control, and profitability
- Lead internal and external preconstruction meetings to align scope, schedule, budget, and execution expectations
Requirements:
- Experience working in commercial construction for or with General Contractors is required
- Relevant experience may include Project Manager, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or Superintendent roles
- Strong understanding of job cost control, pay applications, change management, and contract administration
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Organized, direct communicator capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- General understanding of current, accepted commercial construction processes and practices in the State of Texas
- Landscape or irrigation construction experience is a plus, but not required Compensation & Benefits
