About the Role As a Senior Project Manager on Summit Line's Mission Critical team, you are accountable for the day-to-day success of one or more complex electrical construction projects in data center environments. You will manage the full project lifecycle—from pre-construction and mobilization through execution and closeout—while leading a high-performing team and delivering results that consistently meet or exceed client expectations. You bring at least ten years of electrical construction experience, including five or more years leading project teams, and you understand that technical expertise alone doesn't win in this industry. Success here requires communication, empathy, and a genuine commitment to developing the people around you. You are passionate about mentoring, you set a high bar for your team, and you hold yourself to an even higher one. This role will report onsite at project locations throughout the west. El Paso, TX What You'll Do:
Key Responsibilities Project Planning and Management Lead all pre-construction activities including bid preparation, contract and exhibit review, and execution planning tailored to mission critical project requirements. Establish a comprehensive project execution plan; develop and maintain schedules in close collaboration with the Superintendent and field team. Develop and manage budget projections for labor, material, equipment, and subcontractors. Ensure costs stay within forecast and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate. Develop and oversee the project Schedule of Values (SOV); update based on production, prepare billing packages, and submit to the customer on time. Provide daily, weekly, and monthly cost forecasting, cost-to-complete analysis, and accurate financial reporting. Review cost reports and evaluate methods to reduce costs while sustaining productivity and quality. Develop, submit, track, and maintain all project submittals and requests for information. Identify project risks and potential issues early. Develop and execute recovery action plans to keep projects on track. Manage the invoicing and payment application process for all completed scope. Contract Administration Prepare, review, and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with suppliers and subcontractors. Successfully negotiate change orders to protect project margin and maintain strong client relationships. Collaborate with legal to oversee contracts, ensuring company interests are protected while upholding professional partnerships. Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, legal requirements, and project-specific terms. Prepare and manage subcontracts, vendor agreements, and associated documentation. Stakeholder Communication and Issue Resolution Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and end-user owners; build relationships that support long-term partnership and future business development. Lead meetings with supervisory personnel, subcontractors, and engineers to resolve work procedures, complaints, or construction challenges. Present project updates clearly and confidently to executive leadership and key stakeholders. Interpret and communicate plans and contract terms to administrative staff, field crews, and clients. Material and Quality Management Develop and manage project material trackers based on customer Bill of Materials (BOM), drawings, and scope. Maintain accuracy based on inventories, production, shortages, and damages. Monitor and control construction through close coordination with the Superintendent to ensure on-schedule, on-budget delivery. Execute corrective actions to address delays, weather conditions, or other emergencies with a sense of urgency. Monitor quality of weekly labor, equipment hours, material usage, and subcontractor performance. Ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and full contractual compliance throughout the project. Documentation and Reporting Maintain comprehensive electronic and printed project files in accordance with established document control practices. Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for all construction activities. Present timely, accurate project updates to executive leadership and client stakeholders. Team Leadership and Development Lead and develop a high-performance project team. Provide mentorship, training, and growth opportunities for project managers, assistant project managers, and field personnel. Foster a collaborative, safety-first team culture aligned with Summit Line's values. Lead daily, weekly, and monthly project meetings, including setting agendas and documenting minutes. Oversee staffing coordination to align team resources with project demands and upcoming work. Source, qualify, and develop relationships with new customers and subcontractor partners to support future business opportunities.
What You'll Bring:
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum 10 years in electrical construction or related activities, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. Data center or mission critical project experience strongly preferred.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with project management software required.
Communication:
Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to present effectively to clients and senior leadership.
Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop high-performing project teams.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered. PMP or advanced degree a plus.
Licensing:
Valid state-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record required.
Authorization:
Must be authorized to work in the United States. Not eligible for sponsorship.
Compliance:
Must pass mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
