Job Description

About Outlaw Engineering Outlaw Engineering is a multi-discipline consulting firm established in 2006 and headquartered in Roosevelt, Utah. We deliver civil engineering, structural engineering, environmental consulting, land surveying, GIS, and drafting services—primarily for oil and gas, mining, water resources, and infrastructure clients across the Uinta Basin and throughout Utah. Our teams work shoulder-to-shoulder in the field and in the office, and we keep the promises we make to clients and to each other. Why Outlaw Learn by doing. You won't sit in a cubicle reviewing redlines for two years. You'll be on real projects from day one, working alongside senior engineers, environmental scientists, and surveyors. Multi-discipline exposure. Engineering, environmental, survey, GIS, and drafting teams collaborate daily—you'll develop a breadth of knowledge most firms can't offer this early in your career. Clear path to PM. This role is designed to grow you into a full Project Manager. We'll invest in your development and give you increasing ownership as you demonstrate capability. Access, not red tape. Direct line to firm leadership, fast decisions, and a culture where your contributions are noticed. Scope & Impact Support senior project managers in delivering multi-discipline consulting projects on time and on budget. You'll coordinate day-to-day project logistics, track schedules and budgets, keep documentation organized, and serve as a reliable point of contact for internal teams and clients—building the skills and relationships to manage your own projects as you grow. What You'll Do Assist project managers with planning, scheduling, and resource coordination across engineering, environmental, survey, and GIS teams. Track project budgets, compile cost reports, and flag variances early so PMs can make timely decisions.
Maintain project documentation:
RFIs, submittals, correspondence, meeting notes, field reports, and deliverable logs. Coordinate with environmental staff on permitting timelines including NEPA compliance, wetland delineations, cultural resource surveys, and agency submittals. Communicate with clients on project status, schedule updates, and deliverable timelines under the direction of the PM. Help manage subcontractor and vendor scopes, track procurement, and follow up on deliverables. Perform quality reviews on project deliverables—engineering plans, survey data packages, environmental reports, and GIS products—before they go to the PM for final sign-off. Prepare and organize materials for project meetings; track action items and ensure follow-through. Support proposal development by assembling project descriptions, resumes, fee estimates, and scheduling inputs. Visit project sites to observe field operations, document progress, and coordinate with field crews. Required Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in civil engineering, environmental consulting, construction management, or a related AEC discipline. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related field. Solid organizational skills with the ability to track multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with clients, contractors, and internal teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); willingness to learn project-specific software. Willingness to travel to project sites, primarily in the Uinta Basin and across Utah. Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record. Preferred Qualifications Internship or field experience in a multi-discipline engineering or environmental consulting firm. Exposure to environmental permitting processes (NEPA, wetlands, cultural resources, stormwater).
Familiarity with civil design concepts:
grading plans, utility design, SWPPPs, or drainage plans. Experience with oil and gas, mining, or energy-sector project work. EIT certification or on track to obtain it. Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Procore, or similar platforms.
Pay:
