The role involves server and storage retirement, migration coordination, asset tracking, vendor management, risk mitigation, and compliance-driven shutdown activities across legacy data center environments.

THESE ARE THE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PROJECT MANAGER - DATA CENTER DECOMM

Lead end-to-end data center decommissioning activities for legacy infrastructure environments.

Coordinate shutdown and retirement of:

Physical servers Storage arrays Network devices Backup systems Power and rack infrastructure Work closely with infrastructure, application, cloud, security, and facilities teams during migration and cutover activities Validate migration completion before decommission approval Maintain CMDB and asset inventory accuracy Create and execute: Decommission runbooks Change records Migration schedules Risk and rollback plans Coordinate secure data destruction and hardware disposal in compliance with regulatory requirements Manage vendors for: Asset recovery Cabling removal Rack teardown E-waste recycling Ensure compliance with: GxP

SOX HIPAA

Pharmaceutical validation standards Participate in weekend and after-hours migration/decommission windows Generate status reports and executive updates for program leadership
