Job Title:
Industrialization Project Manager - Tooling and Industrial Equipment Job Description This-level role leads end-to-end industrialization projects focused on tooling and industrial equipment procurement and installation within a manufacturing environment. The Project Manager oversees planning, sourcing, installation, and commissioning of new and upgraded equipment to ensure projects meet production requirements, quality standards, budget targets, and timelines. The position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, engineering, operations, maintenance, and external suppliers to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective capital projects. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets for tooling and industrial equipment projects, ensuring alignment with production and operational requirements. Lead end-to-end execution of capital projects, from concept and justification through procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover to operations. Coordinate cross-functional project teams, including engineering, manufacturing, operations, maintenance, and external suppliers, to ensure clear communication and timely task completion. Monitor project progress against milestones, budgets, and scope, identifying risks and issues early and implementing effective mitigation and recovery plans. Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for tooling and industrial equipment based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement while maintaining required specifications and quality standards. Manage supplier and vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, quality expectations, and project timelines. Oversee on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of industrial equipment and tooling, coordinating closely with maintenance and operations teams. Ensure all installation and commissioning activities comply with applicable safety standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. Validate equipment performance against defined acceptance criteria and ensure a smooth handover to operations, including documentation and support for ramp-up. Track and control project costs, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and proactively addressing variances. Prepare and deliver regular project status reports and updates for stakeholders and leadership, highlighting progress, risks, issues, and mitigation plans. Drive continuous improvement in project execution, cost efficiency, and implementation methods, leveraging lessons learned from completed projects. Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment specifications to optimize equipment selection, layout, and integration into existing operations. Promote and support lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives within project activities and deliverables. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. At least 5 years of project management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments. Proven expertise in tooling and industrial equipment procurement and installation. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment specifications. Demonstrated experience managing capital projects and industrial equipment installations. Excellent negotiation skills for contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers. Strong vendor and supplier management skills, including performance oversight and relationship management. Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, SAP, or similar systems. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and project information clearly to diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership abilities to guide cross-functional teams and drive project outcomes. Additional Skills & Qualifications PMP or equivalent project management certification. Experience applying lean manufacturing principles in project execution. Experience in continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes and equipment. Experience with tooling projects, equipment installation, and capital project management in a high-volume manufacturing setting. Ability to identify and mitigate project risks and implement structured problem-solving approaches. Strong analytical skills to evaluate technical options, cost impacts, and project trade-offs. Work Environment The role operates in a manufacturing plant environment within the manufacturing and engineering functions, with frequent interaction on the production floor and in project and supplier meetings. The Project Manager works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams as well as external equipment and tooling suppliers. Work involves overseeing installation and commissioning activities around industrial equipment, requiring a strong focus on safety and adherence to plant procedures. Typical work uses project management software such as MS Project and enterprise systems such as SAP to plan, track, and report on project activities. The position involves managing multiple concurrent capital projects, coordinating schedules with production, and occasionally adjusting hours to support critical installation or commissioning milestones. Appropriate attire for a manufacturing environment and adherence to all plant safety and operational standards are required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Dublin, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
