Mechanical Project ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical and MEP construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating mechanical scopes (HVAC, piping, plumbing, boilers) for commercial, industrial and data center projects. This role requires strong project management skills, technical mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with construction software to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end management of mechanical and MEP projects, including planning, scheduling, cost control, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout.
Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project; monitor progress and implement recovery plans as needed.
Manage project budgets, forecasts and change orders; prepare cost reports, track allowances and approve subcontractor invoices.
Coordinate mechanical design and engineering review with internal teams, consultants and clients to ensure constructability and compliance with specifications.
Oversee quality control and commissioning activities for HVAC, piping, plumbing and boiler systems; enforce project and industry standards.
Administer contracts and subcontracts, manage subcontractor performance, and resolve technical and commercial issues.
Use construction management and collaboration platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, Viewpoint, Trimble) to manage documentation, RFIs, submittals, drawings and markups.
Lead interdisciplinary coordination (electrical, structural, civil) on MEP and data center projects to avoid clashes and optimize installation sequencing.
Identify, track and mitigate project risks; implement safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
Communicate project status, risks and recovery plans to clients, senior management and stakeholders; prepare executive-level reports and conduct meetings.
Mentor and manage site teams, supervising field personnel, engineers and subcontractors to achieve performance and schedule objectives.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.7+ years of mechanical construction and project management experience; demonstrated experience managing MEP, HVAC, piping, plumbing and boiler scopes on commercial, industrial or data center projects.
Proven proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Viewpoint and Trimble (or equivalent construction/coordination software).Strong experience managing change orders, contracts, budgets and cost forecasting; experience with Viewpoint preferred for financial integration.
PMP certification preferred; strong working knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, piping systems, HVAC systems, boilers and MEP coordination.
Experience with data center construction and high-reliability mechanical systems is highly desired.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage client relationships.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and shop drawings; experience with clash detection and BIM coordination.
Ability to travel to job sites as required, a valid drivers license, and willingness to work in field and office environments.
Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement; OSHA certifications and safety leadership experience preferred.
