Job Description:
We are seeking a Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment and can successfully guide complex fabrication projects from concept through installation. This role requires strong organizational skills, clear communication, accountability, and the ability to coordinate artists, fabricators, subcontractors, vendors, and clients while maintaining schedules, budgets, and production priorities. The ideal candidate understands both the creative and operational sides of fabrication and can work collaboratively with designers, artists, shop staff, and leadership to ensure projects are executed at a high level of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage projects from kickoff through fabrication, delivery, and installation Coordinate schedules, budgets, priorities, and production timelines Lead communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams Maintain project documentation, meeting notes, RFIs, submittals, and change orders Track labor budgets, materials, procurement, and project profitability Work closely with fabrication teams to solve problems and maintain workflow Identify risks, bottlenecks, and scheduling conflicts before they impact production Support estimating, production planning, and installation coordination Maintain clear communication across multiple active projects simultaneously Ensure projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and client expectations
Desired Skills & Experience:
Experience managing fabrication, exhibit, scenic, construction, millwork, themed entertainment, or custom projects Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple complex projects at once Comfortable working in a highly creative and evolving environment Experience with project management software and scheduling systems Ability to read drawings, fabrication documents, and construction details Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail Experience managing vendors, subcontractors, and client relationships Budget tracking and schedule management experience Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Experience:
Museum, zoo, aquarium, scenic, themed entertainment, or experiential fabrication experience Knowledge of fabrication processes including woodworking, metal fabrication, scenic finishes, CNC, digital fabrication, or installation workflows Familiarity with Trello, Harvest, Smartsheet, Microsoft 365, or similar systems
