- This position will be located in Hillsborough, NC and will require relocation late summer of 2026 after initial training in Spokane, WA
- Primary Role The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and successful delivery of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
This role ensures that projects are completed on time, on budget, and to HUG Construction's standards of quality, communication, and professionalism. Serving as the central point of coordination between clients, field teams, subcontractors, and internal leadership, the Project Manager translates vision into execution. This leader owns the project outcome, driving clarity, accountability, and alignment across all stakeholders. Core Responsibilities Project Planning & Pre-Construction
- Lead project planning including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and resource alignment
- Review plans, specifications, and estimates to ensure completeness and constructability
- Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities early in the project lifecycle
- Coordinate with sales, design, and estimating teams to ensure a smooth project handoff Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and manage detailed project budgets aligned with approved estimates
- Track all project costs including labor, materials, and subcontractors
- Manage change orders with clarity, documentation, and client alignment
- Partner with Finance to forecast project performance and maintain margin targets Schedule & Production Management
- Build and maintain detailed project schedules in Buildertrend with clear sequencing of trades
- Coordinate with the Personnel Operations Manager to ensure proper labor allocation
- Ensure subcontractors and crews are scheduled effectively and held accountable to timelines
- Proactively identify and resolve schedule risks or delays Subcontractor & Vendor Management
- Select, onboard, and manage subcontractors and vendors
- Ensure clear scopes of work, expectations, and accountability for performance
- Coordinate subcontractor schedules and site readiness
- Maintain strong, professional relationships with trade partners Client Experience & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Set clear expectations regarding scope, schedule, budget, and process
- Provide consistent, proactive updates on project status, risks, and decisions weekly through the client portal in Buildertrend
- Address client concerns with honesty, responsiveness, and solutions Field Coordination & Leadership
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and team coordination
- Ensure crews and subcontractors have the information and resources needed to perform
- Reinforce a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork on site Quality Control & Project Execution
- Ensure all work meets HUG Construction's quality standards and project specifications
- Identify and address deficiencies early to avoid rework
- Oversee punch list completion and final project delivery
- Maintain attention to detail throughout all phases of construction Risk Management & Problem Solving
- Identify project risks related to schedule, cost, scope, and site conditions
- Develop and execute solutions quickly and effectively
- Escalate critical issues to leadership with recommended actions
- Maintain composure and clarity in high-pressure situations Project Closeout
- Ensure timely and complete project closeout including documentation and final billing
- Deliver a clean, complete, and client-ready finished product
