SALARY RANGE
DOE Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and aligned with Washington State wage transparency laws and prevailing industry standards.

POSITION SUMMARY
Halme Construction, Inc. (HCI) is seeking experienced and qualified applicants for the Project Safety Officer position with a strong background in civil construction and public infrastructure. The Project Safety Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing company safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a safe and healthy work environment. This role leads safety training, conducts inspections and audits, investigates incidents, and works closely with management and field personnel to reduce risks and prevent accidents. The Safety Director also maintains safety documentation, develops corrective action plans, ensures OSHA compliance, and fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across all company operations. Has knowledge of MSHA safety standards specifically 30 CFR part 48 sub part A & B. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to establish a rewarding career with HCI. Salary is DOE. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform regular safety inspections and ensure compliance of all jobs. Conducts daily safety briefings and maintains safety compliance forms. Conducts inspections of company projects and equipment. Conducts quality control checks and ensure work meets contract requirements Creates, collaborates, and implements project specific safety training and programs. Maintains records of team licensing and certifications, per jobsite requirements. Serves as department liaison between the company and the vendors and sub-contractors. Ensures department compliance with various regulatory environmental, health and safety requirements. Attends all meetings and trainings as required. Perform specialized duties as assigned for the variety of jobs we undertake. Address issues promptly and communicate updates with management and stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of experience in progressive safety experience, preferably in construction or heavy civil construction MSHA - Safety Standards - specifically 30 CFR part 48 sub part A & B Current First Aid/CPR and OSHA 30 certifications Strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and other applicable safety regulations and compliance standards Experience developing and implementing company-wide safety programs and training initiatives Proven ability to conduct safety audits, jobsite inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with field crews, management, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management/reporting software Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to multiple jobsite locations as needed Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to promoting a positive safety culture
