The Assistant Manager works closely with the Community Manager in overseeing the daily site operations and achieving the financial goals of the property. The Assistant Manager assists with personnel, marketing and leasing, collections, resident retention and customer service, community maintenance, contracted services, community safety and legal compliance. The Assistant Manager assists the Community Manager in completing administrative tasks including site accounting and report preparation, processing accounts payable, processing bank deposits, posting rent, and performing other administrative functions. The Assistant Manager reports directly to the Community Manager and assists with leasing team oversight. The Assistant Manager acts as the Community Manager in their absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting in the supervision, training and scheduling of the office team. Developing strategies for resident retention and delivering exceptional customer service. Handling telephone inquiries, touring prospective residents, obtaining unit applications and deposits, qualifying applicants, and completing all required paperwork. Assisting with regular community and apartment inspections to ensure the community meets established standards for cleanliness and safety. Assisting with collecting and maintaining current market information. Providing exceptional customer service at all times when dealing with residents. Assisting the Community Manager (working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor) in managing the maintenance programs including any Operations and Maintenance Plans established for the property. Completing administrative and accounting reports and performing other administrative and clerical tasks as assigned by Community Manager. Assisting the Community Manager in planning resident functions and programs that promote resident retention. Participating in all mandatory training programs.
Job Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong sales and leasing skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong bookkeeping, problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or
G.E.D. A
minimum of two years of experience as an assistant property manager or minimum of one to two years' experience as a leasing consultant or comparable combined experience in the property management field. Experienced with Yardi software. Pre-employment drug and background screen required.
