Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a mid-to-senior-level full-charge bookkeeper with some experience in property management/real estate to support one owner and his three companies. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently managing all bookkeeping activities for said owner and companies. The full-charge bookkeeper will handle all accounting, finance and billing details for the residential and commercial real estate/property management companies, and the owner's personal finances. The full-charge bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing daily accounting transactions, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities. This role ensures financial data integrity and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recording and maintaining day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Processing vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and customer billing. Reconciling bank, credit card, and loan accounts every month. Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring accurate coding of transactions. Preparing and posting journal entries, as needed. Assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities. Maintaining fixed asset schedules and recording depreciation, when applicable. Preparing basic financial reports (balance sheets, income statements, etc.) for management review. Processing payroll and reconciling payroll accounts. Ensuring compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP requirements. Assisting external accountants and auditors by providing requested documentation, as needed. Maintaining organized and accurate accounting records and files. Collecting rent and other tenant payments. Communicating delinquent rent, late/other fees, evictions, contract changes, etc. to tenants. Communicating with and managing relationships/work orders with vendors and contractors working for property management companies. Providing excellent and timely customer service to all tenants and customers.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred 5+ years of bookkeeping or general accounting experience is required Proficiency in QuickBooks software is required Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP is required Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities for multiple projects is required Experience with multi-entity bookkeeping is highly preferred Knowledge of payroll and sales tax filings is preferred Some experience with property management/ real estate is highly preferred Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS
High level of confidentiality required. Regular interaction with internal departments and external vendors/customers. Work is performed in office, at an assigned workstation. Standard work shift/hours are subject to change based on business needs.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Reports to Owner (will also report to other entities' Controller during transition and probationary period) No Direct Reports Work Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. (7-8am start time can be decided, but office closes promptly at 4:30pm every day) Work must be performed in office Pre-employment background and drug screens will be required
