About Us Renewal House is a mission-driven organization dedicated to supporting formerly unhoused older adults in achieving housing stability, independence, and improved quality of life. Our transitional housing program provides a safe, supportive environment where residents build the skills and connect to resources needed to successfully transition to permanent housing. Position Summary The Resident Support Manager supports formerly unhoused older adults (age 60+) living in a transitional housing environment in developing the practical skills, routines, and confidence necessary to live independently in permanent housing. The position focuses on building residents' abilities in activities of daily living, including budgeting, meal planning and preparation, transportation use, health management, household responsibilities, and social engagement. The Resident Support Manager works collaboratively with other Renewal House staff members to assess residents' readiness for independent housing and to identify ongoing support services needed for a successful transition to sustained, stable living in the community. Core Responsibilities Support residents in acquiring skills and resources necessary for independent living Prepare residents to be food secure Key Duties Provide instruction and coaching in meal planning, grocery shopping, and preparing nutritious meals on a limited budget Educate residents re: availability of community food resources Assist residents in accessing community transportation resources and maintaining independence Key Duties Train residents to use local transportation options (public transit, senior transportation services, medical rides); work with community-based transportation training resources where appropriate Support residents in completing activities of daily living such as shopping, banking, and pharmacy visits using local transportation resources Help residents maintain physical and mental health stability Key Duties Support residents in scheduling medical and mental health appointments Help residents maintain appointment calendars and reminders Assist residents in coordinating transportation to healthcare providers Assist residents in self-reporting and self-advocacy, as needed Encourage medication and treatment adherence Help maintain a safe, cooperative living environment Key Duties Ensure household chores are completed and shared equitably among residents Maintain chore schedules and house routines Monitor general condition of the residence Lead weekly house meetings Notify the Executive Director of repair and maintenance needs Ensure program van is maintained, including scheduling service, inspections, and reporting issues Reduce isolation and support community integration Key Duties Encourage participation in social activities and community programs Assist residents in identifying personal interests, volunteer opportunities, or social groups Support residents in developing healthy social networks Collaborate with the other Renewal House staff to evaluate readiness for independent living Key Duties Work with the staff to assess residents' ability to live independently Document progress in life skills and daily functioning Identify areas where ongoing support may be required Provide input into transition plans for permanent housing Required Qualifications Education Associate's or Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, gerontology, or related field preferred Equivalent experience will be considered Experience Experience working with older adults, supportive housing, or human services programs Experience teaching or coaching life skills Skills Strong interpersonal and coaching skills Ability to work with individuals with diverse life experiences and abilities Proficiency in Spanish highly desirable Organizational and documentation skills Ability to balance support with encouragement of independence Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of aging services and community resources Experience with housing stability or supportive housing programs If you're passionate about helping older adults develop the skills needed to thrive, if you want to be part of a caring, dedicated team, we'd love to hear from you!
