Job Description:
Position Summary We're looking for an Asset Management Associate to run the day-to-day of asset management alongside the Partner who oversees the portfolio. Property management is handled by our third-party managers; this is the owner's-side role that stays ahead of everything across them
  • anticipating what each property, deal, and project needs before it becomes urgent, doing the first-pass analytical work, and bringing leadership decision-ready recommendations. It's an operations and execution role, not a financial modeling or underwriting seat
  • and a proactive one: we want someone who gets out in front of expirations, vacancies, and issues, not someone who waits to be asked. You'll own the portfolio's forward motion. Strong performers have a direct path to Asset Manager. Key Responsibilities Operations
  • Own the critical-date calendar
  • lease expirations, option and notice deadlines, renewals
  • working from Yardi and firm reporting, and surface what needs action well ahead of time
  • Review the annual property budgets prepared by the third-party managers
  • benchmark against prior year and actuals, challenge line items, work through adjustments with the managers, and prepare them for leadership approval
  • Monitor portfolio data and flag exceptions: tenant delinquencies, bounced checks, opex variances, and sales-reporting gaps
  • Review and approve vendor invoices against budget within your authority, escalating larger items to leadership
  • Keep documents and records flowing
  • route executed agreements and keep deal and property records current Manager & Portfolio Oversight
  • Serve as the owner's-side point of coordination across our third-party property managers
  • drive deliverables, confirm completion, and surface gaps before they become problems
  • Maintain a single, current view of who owes what across managers, brokers, attorneys, and internal team members, and chase open items through to completion
  • Conduct routine site visits to verify property condition, signage, landscaping, and manager performance
  • independent eyes on the portfolio that catch issues before they escalate
  • Prepare a weekly status summary so leadership always knows what's moving, what's stuck, and what needs a decision Deals, Leasing & Marketing
  • Keep active deals, LOIs, renewals, and amendments moving
  • follow up with brokers, tenant reps, and internal parties so nothing stalls
  • Research market comps and prepare renewal recommendations
  • rate, term, and structure
  • then execute approved renewals through to signature
  • Complete first-pass review of leases and amendments against MMG's standard positions, producing a clean redline and an exceptions memo for leadership and counsel
  • Analyze upcoming expirations to increase asset value
  • Keep vacancy marketing current and accurate

  • Serve as the asset-management liaison on facade and capital projects

  • Drive landlord work, tenant build-out, and delivery obligations through to opening
  • coordinating across managers, construction, and the tenant to accelerate rent commencement, so nothing slips between hand-offs Where the Role Grows MMG is building an in-house tenant-prospecting platform.
This role helps finalize it, supports the rollout, and takes full ownership once it's stabilized, running targeted outreach for our vacancies and handing qualified prospects to our landlord-rep brokers. Qualifications
  • 3-6 years in commercial real estate
  • asset management, brokerage, REIT/owner analyst, or a multi-hat role at a smaller owner
  • Comfortable reading leases, rent rolls, deal terms, and operating budgets, and able to prepare a renewal recommendation
  • Exceptionally organized
  • and a finisher who closes loops, not just tracks them
  • Comfortable holding outside managers, brokers, and internal colleagues accountable to deliverables and deadlines
  • Proficient in Yardi (or similar), Microsoft Office, and CRM tools
  • Self-directed
  • able to run the function independently and escalate the right things at the right time
  • Strong written communication and sound judgment about what needs leadership's attention
