Membership Position Summary This position is responsible for day-to-day general administration of the Membership Department, and areas listed above, including staff supervision, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development and quality control, and committee development, community relations, collaborations, long-range planning and facility maintenance. The Membership Director will provide direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Board. Core and Strategic Functions Quality Programs, Services and Facilities Direct and administer total operation of the Membership Department, including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operations. Plan and conduct a wide variety of membership programs and activities that maximize the facilities, support the cause and enhance membership. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment by keeping supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment. Responsible for corporate partnerships, membership promotions, membership recognition and appreciation activities along with community image and awareness through marketing of the branch. Develop and implement annual membership growth, retention goals, and objectives that include monthly and weekly action plans. Maintain systematic filing process for all members. Review and monitor monthly membership goals, statistics, enrollment procedures, membership inquiries, appointments, tours, follow-up calls, and closing ratios. Staff and Volunteer Management Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers through use of Leadership Competency Model resources that create a culture of cause-driven leaders. Lead and/or participate in a branch committee(s). Conduct monthly staff meetings to keep staff well informed. Support branch Community Champions efforts. Finance Prepare annual department(s) budget for approval by the Branch Executive. Recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary expense controls and revenue production. Community Development Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Promote and communicate the objectives and programs through public communication media. Participate in community organizations. Financial Development Incorporate storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and cause. Participate in Annual Campaign efforts. Identify and recruit Annual Campaign volunteers. Lead and/or participate in branch special events for fundraising or mission advancement. Operating Values Serve as a member of branch management and support the branch and association objectives of the employer. Teach, role model and promote SMART behavior. Strategic Support the GPS initiatives. Advance our work in Youth Development, Healthy Living, Volunteerism and Philanthropy. Incorporate Living Our Cause into work products and behaviors. Two years of experience in related field required. Two years experience in management or supervision required. Must meet employers driving criteria. CPR/First Aid required in 90 days of employment. May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and squat, stoop or bend into awkward positions while performing job functions. Lift and carry up to 30 lbs. when needed. Ability to multi task. Communication, written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills required.
