Residential Living Supervisor Essential Functions:
Under the supervision of the Director of Residential Living, the Horizons Residential Living Supervisor provides leadership, case management oversight, and operational supervision within Mooseheart's residential facility serving youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position ensures that services are delivered in accordance with agency standards, DCFS regulatory requirements, and person-centered planning principles. The Supervisor directly oversees Direct Care Staff and is responsible for maintaining consistent, safe, and effective daily home operations within the Horizons program.Specific Duties:
Provides comprehensive case management services utilizing person-centered planning approaches that promote youth participation in decision-making, developmental growth, academic progress, independence, and cultural relevance. Coordinates, schedules, and participates in interdisciplinary service planning meetings with internal staff and external providers. Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of services and interventions within assigned homes and recommends program adjustments as needed. Maintains accurate and timely documentation regarding youth progress, service coordination, and regulatory compliance. Participates in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure program continuity and emergency response coverage. Maintains staffing schedules for Horizons program homes to ensure adequate and qualified staff coverage at all times. Provides direct supervision, coaching, leadership, and performance evaluation to Child Care Supervisors. Ensures daily group home operations are organized, appropriately staffed, and compliant with DCFS standards and agency policies. Monitors youth engagement practices, safety standards, therapeutic approaches, and staff performance within assigned homes. Facilitates communication between Child Care Supervisors, clinical staff, educators, and administrative leadership. Assists Child Care Supervisors in fulfilling responsibilities as necessary to maintain operational stability and youth safety, including appointment coordination, skills group oversight, medication monitoring, and supervision support. Maintains confidentiality of company, staff, and youth information, sharing information strictly on a need-to-know basis. Performs other related duties as requested by the Director of Residential Living or the Executive Director of Mooseheart Operations. Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform theJob:
Minimum 25 years of age. Master's Degree in Social Work or Human/Social Services field. Minimum one (1) year of experience in child welfare or human/social services. Minimum two (2) years of experience in a residential setting. Current Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) certification. Demonstrated knowledge of person-centered planning, trauma-informed care practices, and residential program oversight. Ability to supervise, coach, and evaluate professional staff. Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and recommend improvements. Meet all licensing and registration requirements of the State of Illinois and DCFS regulations. Work EnvironmentSchedule This role is a live-in position with housing provided. It is housed within a residential youth program and requires flexibility, collaboration, and consistent supervisory presence. Participation in an on-call rotation is required. Occasional evening or weekend support may be needed to maintain program stability. Horizons Residential Living Supervisors will complete an annual performance evaluation by their supervisor.
