Residence Life Area Coordinator 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 400 East College Street, Georgetown, KY 40324 Full-time Georgetown College 37 reviews Full-time Oversee the residential education model in assigned residence halls to support the holistic development of students and facilitate a safe, sanitary, and engaging living and learning environment. Provide direct supervision and leadership to Resident Assistants (RAs) and Residence Hall Coordinators (RHCs), enhancing their ability to support students effectively. Serve as the first responder to crisis situations within the residence halls, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Building Oversight:
Directly oversee the operations of 5 to 6 residential buildings, manage roommate issues, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Primary:
Residence Life Area Coordinator (LIVE-ON
POSITION
): Support to
RHCs:
Act as the direct supervisor to Residence Hall Coordinators (RHCs) in the assigned buildings, holding biweekly meetings to provide guidance, support, and performance feedback.
Community Programming:
Oversee and implement community programming initiatives for the buildings to foster student engagement and development.
Move-In/Move-Out:
Assist with the organization and execution of move-in and move-out processes, ensuring a smooth transition for residents.
Training and Development:
Participate in training programs for residential staff, providing ongoing support and professional development opportunities.
Conflict Resolution:
Address and mediate conflicts among residents, promoting a respectful and inclusive community.
On-Call Rotation:
Serve in the on-call rotation to respond to emergencies and provide support to residents as needed.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records and reports related to building operations, programming, and student issues.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as required to support Residence Life and the Student Life team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise Resident Assistants and Resident Hall Coordinators in the buildings overseen by this individual.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education and / or Experience - A Bachelor's degree with a postgraduate degree preferred; one to three years of related experience in a college environment is preferred; or any similar combination of education and experience. Experience providing programming and/or services to students, and an understanding of student development theory is preferred. Familiarity with a holistic approach to wellness programming is strongly preferred. Additionally, the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct student activities. Individuals must possess a passion for students and their development. Planning and Organization - Ability to plan and organize programs and events efficiently and effectively and to coordinate this planning with other offices and college personnel. Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and work evenings and weekends as needed.
Communication / Language
- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively one-on-one and before groups of students, faculty, and staff. Mathematical - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning - Ability to analyze problems, collect and interpret data, and draw sound conclusions. Capable of following written, oral, and technical instructions, and managing multiple variables in complex situations. Demonstrates strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
