Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Coordinator for Student Activities provides support and direction for student activities and clubs at the college. This person will also serve as a Community Facilitator, a live-in staff member, who provides leadership, support and safety for undergraduate students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Coordinator for
Student Activities:
Organize and sometimes oversee on- and off-campus, extra-curricular cultural and recreational events: for example, trips to museums, concerts, and other cultural venues, an all-campus "Friday Fair," and student-driven club events. Maintain effective communication for student activities and events. Advise student leaders and student organizations, for example, how to found, maintain, and ensure the succession of new clubs; increase membership; be aware of and abide by college policies and practices; be aware of and abide by other regulatory policies; manage risks. Advise student leaders interested in pursuing club related external events, such as conferences. Coordinate the acquisition of permits, licenses, and rights for student projects, including city permits (e.g., alcohol, outdoor fire) and external media rights from copyright owners for film showings. Supervise, hire, train and provide direction for a team of student aides to run on-campus activities. Manage a budget for student activities and supplies. Monitor some late night and weekend events, including on-site management of events with alcohol. Assist with the planning and execution of Opening Week, Family Weekend programs, and Commencement Week programs. Serve on various campus-wide committees as necessary and appropriate. Direct some aspects of intermural sports and referee some intramural games. Supervise student gym assistants as needed. Provide administrative support as needed. Other duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities as
Community Facilitator Crisis Management and Student Care:
serve as a member of the on-call rotation for 380 on-campus undergraduate students; make decisions related to facility and student emergencies; identify and address safety and security issues in residential areas; partner with and provide assistance to Public Safety. Other duties as assigned and duties maybe amended from time to time without notice.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Bachelor's Degree in a field relevant to the position, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience Demonstrated experience (typically 1 year) advising, developing, coordinating, and evaluating student life and campus activities programming, or related experience Ability to work 12-months and live in an apartment on campus. This is a 12-month appointment with a review annually for reappointment. A valid driver's license At least one year of professional experience Background in organizing group trips and/or athletic events Ability to respond to student concerns and behaviors
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in Student Development or related discipline Extensive leadership experience as a member of or an advisor to a student club/organization Extensive experience in planning, organizing, and executing large student life programs and events Basic experience creating and managing a budget
