Job Description

Description Savi, a registered Public Benefit Corporation, is a leader in student loan education, empowering consumers to save money on student loans and explore new education options through its technology platform and one-on-one human support. Since 2017, Savi has helped student loan borrowers find $5+ billion in student loan savings across 10,000+ employers and membership groups, including AARP, MetLife, NEA, TIAA, and more. Our mission is to help the 46+ million student loan borrowers better understand their debt, find federal forgiveness programs, and enroll. We're looking for people who have the desire to help support the education of borrowers and build community partnerships to further grow our reach. Savi partners with local governments, non-profits, schools and other partners to provide student loan education resources to community residents. The Community Organizer must have direct community organizing experience, be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast collaborative environment, and has an entrepreneurial attitude. This is the chance to get in at the ground floor of an exciting startup, tackling a major community problem. The Organizer must be based in or willing to relocate to the Detroit, Michigan area as the initial organizing work will focus on Detroit and the surrounding communities.
Responsibilities:
Lead implementation of local organizing strategies, including: Meeting with local community partners Manage and oversee key education campaigns Identify new and creative partnership and outreach strategies Oversee community organizing research to identify existing and new business partnership for growth and expansion Develop expertise in our communication & policy goals, policy issues, and key stakeholders. Communicate student loan policy basics and how Savi helps borrowers navigate their options to target audiences and stakeholders. Lead cross-company collaboration between different teams
Requirements:
1 year of organizing, electoral, issue or other campaign experience. Recent college graduates welcome.
A strong candidate would have:
Experience with community organizing, preferably in Michigan Comfort with self-directed work Possess good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others Detail oriented with strong organizational skills Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced work environment An interest in and aptitude for working with new technologies and a social-impact start-up Interest in the social impact mission of the company.
Compensation:
$45,000-55,000 salary. Savi's benefits include: 5% 401K match after 6 months, 99% employer sponsored health coverage (health, vision, dental, HSA) on day one, generous annual PTO, paid sick and parental leave, pre-tax commuter benefits, and 10+ additional paid holidays annually.
