  • Full-time We are seeking a high-level General Manager to lead our day-to-day operations and treat this business as if it were their own.
You will be overseeing a portfolio of multi-family, commercial, and single-family properties across the Flathead Valley. You will lead a small team of property managers, manage properties directly, and refine our operational systems. The ideal candidate is someone who can pivot from financial analysis to client management to troubleshooting a maintenance emergency without missing a beat.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership:
Oversee and work with a team of property managers. You will be responsible for the performance, accountability, and growth of the team.
Operational Oversight:
Manage the full lifecycle of the business, including leasing, tenant relations, maintenance coordination, client reporting, and owner reporting.
Portfolio Management:
Directly manage a select portion of the portfolio while ensuring the entire company's assets (multi-family, commercial, and SFR) are performing optimally.
Ownership Mindset:
Weigh in on high-level decisions with the owners regarding business expenses, vendor contracts, and client retention. You are the final point of escalation for staff and tenants.
Compliance & Strategy:
Ensure all operations comply with Montana Landlord-Tenant Law and Fair Housing regulations. Identify opportunities to grow the portfolio and improve the company's bottom line.
Key Financial Responsibilities:
Owner Reporting:
Oversee the accuracy of monthly owner reports and provide high-level financial analysis for complex multi-family and commercial assets.
Financial Stewardship:
Collaborate with the business owners to set annual budgets; monitor P&L statements for the business, and identify areas to reduce overhead and increase ancillary income without sacrificing service quality. Ensure the company and the properties it manages stay on track.
Audit & Oversight:
Regularly work with the bookkeeper to review operating accou nts, trust accounts and corporate financials to ensure accuracy and fiscal responsibility.
Qualifications Experience:
3+ years in Property Management or real estate based business, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Financial Literacy:
Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting financial statements, including P&Ls, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports. You must be able to explain financial variances to property owners and make data-driven decisions for the business.
Versatility:
Proven experience managing multi-family (primary focus), commercial , and single-family assets.
Licensing:
Current Montana Property Management License (or the ability to obtain one immediately) is required.
Local Knowledge:
Deep familiarity with the Flathead Valley rental real estate market.
Tech Savvy:
Proficiency in property management software (AppFolio, Yardi, Buildium, or similar) and standard office suites. Who You Are You are a "fixer" who thrives on solving complex problems independently.
