Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is a national grassroots organization focused on turning ideas into action. Here in North Dakota, that means working directly with local citizens to advance policies that expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and improve lives across the state. As a Grassroots Engagement Director, you'll lead grassroots efforts on the ground in North Dakota. You'll build relationships with local leaders, mobilize citizens to take action, and help drive policy solutions that matter to people here at home. What You'll Do Build and lead your own grassroots network across
North Dakota:
Identify, recruit, and develop local leaders who care about making a difference in their communities Turn neighbors into advocates: Coach and equip North Dakotans to speak up, organize, and take action on key state and federal policy issues Run outreach efforts that meet people where they are: Plan and execute events, canvassing efforts, phone banks, and community engagement strategies across your region Be present in communities: Spend time meeting people face-to-face and building trust in towns and cities across the state Keep your network engaged: Maintain strong relationships with volunteers and ensure they stay motivated, informed, and active Manage canvassing teams: Oversee part-time contractors and ensure operations run effectively and compliantly Innovate locally: Test new ideas and approaches that resonate specifically with North Dakota communities—this isn't a one-size-fits-all role What It Takes to Succeed You genuinely enjoy meeting new people and can build relationships quickly across different communities and backgrounds You're self-directed and take ownership—you don't wait to be told what to do You're organized and can manage multiple priorities, events, and relationships at once You're comfortable asking people to take action and motivating them to follow through You're energized by fast-paced, goal-oriented work You're willing to work the occasional evening/weekend when needed to connect with people in their communities You have a valid driver's license and are comfortable traveling across North Dakota Standout Candidates May Have Experience in grassroots organizing, community engagement, or political campaigns Existing connections or familiarity with North Dakota communities Experience leading volunteers or managing teams Why This Role Is Different This is not a typical desk job. You'll spend much of your time out in North Dakota communities—meeting people, building relationships, and creating momentum around real issues that impact the state. You'll also have a high level of ownership. You're not just executing someone else's plan—you're helping shape how AFP engages across North Dakota and what success looks like in your region. Most importantly, this role is a launchpad for growth. High performers have opportunities to take on greater leadership, expand their scope, and grow within AFP and the broader Stand Together network. We look for people who are solutions-oriented and motivated to make a real difference—especially at the local level.TO APPLY
