New Jersey SORA Certification Position Overview We are seeking a professional and dependable SORA Certified Security Officer to provide overnight security services for a gated residential community in Manchester, NJ. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment through a combination of access control at the gatehouse and mobile patrol duties throughout the community. The officer will divide their shift between monitoring entry points and enforcing community rules, including parking regulations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to incidents while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor. Key ResponsibilitiesGatehouse Access Control Duties Monitor and control access to the community through the gatehouse. Verify residents, guests, vendors, and deliveries using approved access control procedures. Maintain accurate visitor logs using security software and reporting systems. Issue visitor passes and provide directions when necessary. Communicate with residents for visitor authorization. Operate gate systems, intercoms, cameras, and license plate recognition (LPR) technology. Monitor surveillance cameras and report suspicious activity. Provide exceptional customer service to residents, guests, and vendors. Mobile Patrol & Community Enforcement Conduct routine vehicle and foot patrols throughout the community. Enforce parking regulations and community rules in accordance with HOA guidelines. Identify and report unauthorized vehicles and issue warnings or violations as directed. Observe and report safety hazards, suspicious activity, or security breaches. Check amenities, common areas, and perimeter points to ensure safety and security. Assist residents as needed while maintaining professionalism and authority. Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and emergencies. Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency services when required. Reporting & Documentation Prepare detailed daily activity reports and incident reports. Document violations, disturbances, and unusual occurrences. Maintain accurate logs of patrols and enforcement activities. Utilize mobile devices and security software such as visitor management and incident reporting systems. Report maintenance or safety concerns to management. Qualifications Must possess a valid New Jersey SORA Security Officer Certification . High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 1-2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Basic computer proficiency and experience with security technology preferred. Must be reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor. Physical Requirements Ability to stand or sit for extended periods. Capable of walking and conducting patrols for prolonged durations. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds when necessary. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies. Preferred Skills Experience working in gated communities or residential environments. Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and LPR technology. Knowledge of HOA rules and parking enforcement procedures. Experience using visitor management and incident reporting software.
