Affordable Housing Location:
Newark, NJ A well-established property management company is seeking an experienced Affordable Housing Property Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of a residential community in Newark, NJ. This role is responsible for overall property performance, including financial results, leasing, compliance, resident relations, maintenance oversight, and staff leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations and ensure property goals for occupancy, revenue, compliance, and resident satisfaction are met Prepare and manage annual budgets; monitor financial performance and control expenses Manage rent collection, delinquencies, deposits, payables, and Housing Assistance Payments (HAP), including special claims Drive leasing and marketing efforts through outreach, lead generation, and effective closing strategies Ensure compliance with all affordable housing requirements, including certifications, recertifications, renewals, and file management Maintain accurate records and process documentation in property management software Build strong resident relationships, address concerns, and support retention initiatives Recruit, train, supervise, and develop site staff; ensure appropriate staffing levels Coordinate maintenance activities, inspections, capital projects, and vendor contracts Conduct regular property walks and ensure safety issues are addressed promptly Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts
Qualifications/Requirements:
Prior property management experience, including affordable housing compliance Strong financial, organizational, and problem-solving skills Proven leadership and team management abilities Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple priorities independently Professional, ethical, and detail-oriented approach Basic math proficiency required Associates degree or equivalent experience, plus an additional 3-5 years of related experience. Experience with affordable housing programs strongly preferred if applicable. Experience in a supervisory role/capacity required. Multilingual skills strongly preferred Background check required- including driver's license/DMV check
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
