QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience
  • A minimum of one-year experience working with the mental health and substance abuse population preferred. Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain in a professional manner relationship with clientele and personnel within and outside the Agency.
  • Proven skills in household maintenance, including cooking, cleaning, and other daily living tasks
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and personal qualities necessary to meet the demands of the role.
  • Valid New York State driver's license with 4 points or less.
RESPONSIBLE TO
Residence Manager/Program Manager
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Administrative
  • Required to follow all Agency policies and procedures, using the Policy and Procedures manual as a reference.
  • Required to understand and abide by those laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that are applicable to the program/service which you are providing.
  • Required to report any known or suspected violation of laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to programs/services of the agency.
  • Required to maintain accurate statistical records and files on program participants and activities, including but not limited to individual client records, billing records, medication records, daily log, expense sheets, purchase orders, petty cash, client funds, mileage records, and menus.   • Interact with residents and staff while providing crisis counseling when needed.
  • Provide individual and crisis counseling to support residents in modifying behaviors.
  • Help maintain a stable home environment with consistent routines, serving as a positive role model and promoting healthy living and coping skills.
  • Ensure residents' physical and emotional needs are met, including proper nutrition, clothing, and medical care.
  • Supervise and participate in housekeeping duties and meal preparation.
  • Supervise and manage resident medications according to agency guidelines.
  • Actively assist with laundry tasks.
  • Plan and implement skill-building activities for residents.
  • Organize, implement, and supervise both in-house and in the community recreational and social activities.
  • Utilize appropriate behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly residence environment.
  • Communicate with any client or program concerns to direct supervisor.
EXPECTATIONS
for Maintaining Relief Counselor Status
  • Stay current with all mandated Agency training.
  • Attend quarterly meetings and additional training required to maintain Relief Counselor status.
  • Work a minimum of 16 hours per quarter
  • Work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
  • Community Residences are a 24/7 program which requires staffing to be maintained at all times. In the event there is a call out for the next shift, you may be mandated to stay.
  • Perform all other duties assigned within the Agency.
