Job Description

About Us Wild Oak Homes is a modern farmhouse home builder operating across Central Texas, delivering semi-custom and custom homes as well as Build-On-Your-Lot projects. We're a growing, owner-led company that runs lean, moves fast, and cares about getting the details right — from the trade partners we work with to the cost of every line item in a budget. As we scale our communities and closings, we're bringing purchasing in-house to drive consistency, cost control, and stronger trade partner relationships. Position Summary We're looking for a Purchasing Manager to own the estimating, bidding, and purchasing function across our active communities and custom builds. You'll be the connective tissue between our plans, our budgets, our trade partners, and our field team — responsible for accurate takeoffs, competitive pricing, clean purchase orders, and tight cost control. This is a hands-on role with real ownership and room to build the systems and processes that support our growth. Key Responsibilities Manage the full bid and award process: solicit, level, and negotiate bids from subcontractors and material suppliers across all trades. Build and maintain accurate budgets and cost estimates for new plans, spec homes, presales, and Build-On-Your-Lot projects. Develop and maintain the company cost catalog, standard specifications, and allowance schedules to ensure consistent, defensible pricing. Create and issue purchase orders, manage change orders, and reconcile budgets against actual costs throughout each job. Perform and verify material takeoffs from plans and specifications; identify scope gaps before they reach the field. Recruit, vet, and onboard new trade partners and suppliers; maintain strong, accountable relationships with existing ones. Drive value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or our finish standards. Partner closely with construction and field staff to resolve pricing, scope, and scheduling issues quickly. Track and analyze pricing trends across materials and labor to anticipate cost movement and protect margins. Maintain accurate purchasing and budget data within our construction management platform (JobTread). Requirements 3+ years of purchasing, estimating, or cost management experience with a residential home builder. Strong working knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and the full trade sequence. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and specifications and perform accurate material takeoffs. Demonstrated success negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and the ability to manage many jobs at once. Proficiency with construction management or estimating software and spreadsheets. Preferred Experience with production or semi-custom builders. Familiarity with JobTread or a comparable construction PM/accounting platform. Experience building or maintaining cost catalogs, spec templates, and allowance schedules. Knowledge of Central Texas trade base and supplier market. What We Offer Competitive salary, depending on experience. Bonus and performance incentives Health, PTO and 401k matching benefits A high-impact role with direct access to ownership and the autonomy to build the function. A growing company with a clear pipeline and real opportunity for advancement.
