This position is responsible for supporting administration of the Student Code of Conduct, coordinating student community service engagement opportunities, and managing and supervising activities affecting the staff and students of the assigned residence area(s). The Coordinator will also serve on the Community Standards Hearing Board, adjudicating cases of violations to the Student Code of Conduct. This is a 12-month live-on position. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Principal Accountabilities The principal accountabilities for the Coordinator of Community Standards & Community Service Coordinator / Community Director include but are not limited to the following:
Community Standards:
Communicate student conduct policies and practices to the campus community. Recruit and train faculty, staff, and student Community Standards Hearing Board members on all aspects of the Community Standards process. Facilitate and serve on Community Standards Hearing Boards to adjudicate high level violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Supervise all hearing officers, ensuring alleged violations are resolved in a timely and written manner. Participate in the administrator on call rotation. Facilitate, participate, and oversee training and development programs for professional and paraprofessional staff. Oversee and maintain conduct tracking software (Maxient). Provide crisis management, conflict resolution, and mediation assistance for students and staff. Respond to students, parents, faculty and staff in the management and resolution of their issues or concerns. Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with records retention requirements. Comply with FERPA for all student conduct records. Continuously assess and improve student conduct processes. Serve as a representative on the University CARE team to provide support for students of concern. Serve on various divisional and University committees.Residential Life:
Maintain a proper living environment for residence hall students through ensuring that rules and regulations (including fire safety, quiet hours, building maintenance, and security) which affect the quality of life in the residence halls, are upheld. Provide counsel and guidance to students. Train, develop programs with, and supervise the activities of student Resident Assistants. Develop creative social, cultural, safety, and educational programs for students. Coordinate proper building maintenance with campus management employees. Complete administrative assignments in a timely manner.Community Service:
Oversee the Leadership and Community Engagement (LACE) Fellowship program that connects Bryant students with local community service sites to complete a yearlong service project. Research and develop meaningful and sustainable partnerships with local charities and non-profits to plan service trips/opportunities for Bryant students. Serve as a resource for community service-based student organizations. Coordinate and execute off-campus community service trips (i.e. Alternative Spring Break, Habitat for Humanity) with students and campus partners. Coordinate and execute on-campus opportunities and programs for the Bryant community related to community engagement. Partner with Academic Affairs to enhance community engagement opportunities in the classroom. Partner with Student Affairs/Community Standards to connect students with relevant local community service opportunities. Work closely with students to enhance their connection to community engagement on and off campus in formal and informal ways. Perform other duties as assigned. : Strong interpersonal skills to develop credibility and trust with a wide range of constituent groups. Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, use sound judgment, and decision-making skills. Ability to work collaboratively with others. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Well organized and able to effectively coordinate multiple projects/assignments simultaneously. High degree of professionalism and the ability to accurately maintain confidential information. Open and responsive to direction and feedback.TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
: Best served by a person with: Undergraduate degree in Student Personnel Services or other related degree. 2-3 years of higher education work experience particularly in Residential Life is required (may include graduate assistantships). Experience working with Maxient or similar student conduct system. Experience with student conduct systems and legal issues related to student affairs is preferred.
