Coordinator of Student Activities & Community Director Bryant University - 4.2 Smithfield, RI Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Live-in employment Newsletters (communication methods) Full Job Description Full Time / Part Time Full Time Job Type Staff Reports To Assistant Director of Residential Life & Associate Director of Student Activities Position Summary This position is a dual reporting role to the Associate Director of Student Activities and the Assistant Director of Residential Life. The Coordinator of Student Activities and Community Director will assist with supporting the fraternity and sorority community, and will oversee the Lower Village residential community including fraternity and sorority housing. This position is responsible for managing and supervising activities affecting the staff and students of the Lower Village community. This is a full-time, twelve-month; live-in position. This position will at times require a non-standard work schedule, such as night and weekend hours. Principal Accountabilities Advising:
Serve as advisor to Order of Omega. Oversee all selection processes, meetings, goals, planning for the year, induction ceremony, and event support. Assist with advising Panhellenic Council and/or Interfraternity Council.
Fraternity and Sorority Life:
Assist the Associate Director of Student Activities with fraternity and sorority life including support with day-to-day needs, special events, developmental/interpersonal issues, community/residential standards, and goal setting. This currently includes 4 sororities, 5 fraternities, Panhellenic Council, and Interfraternity Council. Support recruitment, Greek Week, Fraternity and Sorority Life monthly community meetings, develop Fraternity and Sorority Life newsletter, philanthropic endeavors, sexual assault awareness events, and leadership development training opportunities. Assist with campus wide development and training of hazing prevention programs in collaboration with Student Affairs.
Residential Life:
The principal accountabilities for the Community Director at Bryant University include but are not limited to the following: Maintaining a proper living environment for residence hall students through ensuring that rules and regulations (including fire safety, quiet hours, building maintenance, and security) which affect the quality of life in the residence halls, are upheld. Providing counseling assistance and guidance to students. Training, developing programs with, and supervising the activities of, student resident assistants. Developing creative social, cultural, safety, and educational programs for students. Coordinating proper building maintenance with maintenance employees. Completing administrative assignments in a timely manner as required; and, Performing other duties as assigned. General Student Activities Support Support Student Activities department in overall programming including late night and weekend programming, strategic planning, and event support for large-scale and signature Student Activities' events, and traditions such as Senior Week, Family Weekend, Homecoming, etc. Work with the Student Life teams including Student Engagement, Residential Life, and Community Standards to ensure seamless delivery of large departmental and divisional initiatives. Provide event support to New Student Programs as needed. Serve as a Community Standards Hearing Officer. Perform other duties as assigned. TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
: Best served by a person with: Bachelor degree 1-3 years of higher education work experience required (may include graduate assistantships) Experience with student activities and residential life is preferred. Strong understanding of fraternity and sorority life operations. Strong knowledge of student development theory and practice is preferred.
