GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs advanced (senior-level) property management, asset, and inventory control work. Oversees and maintains property inventory records and physical inventories, processing and/or approval of purchasing requisitions and specifications; coordinating the disposal and surplus of property; and provides technical assistance to staff. Work involves managing and monitoring agency wide assets alone from a centralized location and ensuring compliance with established security requirements, loss prevention controls, and procedures. Responsible for warehouse operations in compliance with all applicable rules, polices, and procedures. Provides oversight of agency assets. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others. May be required to travel and work overtime. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per work week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manages warehouse activities (i.e.: forklift operations, mail/parcel receiving, coordinates custodial services, ensures work areas are clean and maintained, etc.) Coordinates, schedules, and manages inventories on assets, prepares asset control records and reports, and reviews and maintains inventory databases Coordinates the disposal of surplus property Develops asset control program guidelines and policies Reconciles inventory records with asset accounting records; resolves reporting discrepancies Reviews and maintains records of assets; assigns asset control numbers to items Manages and analyzes asset inventories; ensures asset records are accurate in the system of record (CAPPS & SPA) Review policies and make recommendations for potential adjustments Collaborate with interdepartmental management teams and organizational analysts Monitors stock control records following loss prevention and agency guidelines Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures: Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible. Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested time frames. Performs related work as assigned (as needed) Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies. This position requires to travel up to 20% of the time. Expected to have an understanding of TJJD's treatment programs for the youth including Texas Model 2.0 and be able to evaluate application of the Model by TJJD staff when visiting/auditing facilities and locations where youth are supervised. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Five years full-time wage-earning experience in property accounting and inventory management work.
Experience and Education Substitutions:
  • Completed course hours of undergraduate study may substitute for up to two years of experience on a basis of 30 course hours for one year of experience.
  • Pro-rated part-time experience may satisfy the experience requirement.
Note:
All degree(s), semester hours, diploma(s), or GED required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution. Experience requirements may be satisfied by the prorated part-time equivalent.
