fill a full-time, non-permanent WMS02 Community Corrections Supervisor (CCS) position within the Community Corrections Division (CCD). T his position works in the Critical Incident Review (CIR) Oversight Unit. Although this position is designated as full-time telework, work will be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service. The incumbent will need to periodically report to a local field office. This project appointment is expected to last about 18 months. This position is an integral part of the CCD management team and will be responsible for conducting complete, fair, and impartial reviews of critical incidents that have taken place within CCD, or as assigned. Conduct formal reviews of critical incidents as assigned by the Assistant Secretary for Community Corrections/designee per Department policy. Apply extensive knowledge of the overall management of a field unit, and of Department operations, policy, and related statutes and WACs to conduct fair, objective, and impartial reviews of critical incidents that have taken place within CCD or as assigned, within designated timeframes using a prescribed template. Make recommendations regarding action and ensure policy and/or process gaps are addressed. Upon completion of the review, debrief the Assistant Secretary for Corrections/designee. Provide consultation and collaboration with Appointing Authorities regarding critical incident findings and possible action plans and make recommendations to consider. Recommend system and process improvements to division/agency leadership. Apply extensive knowledge, experience, and subject matter expertise, as well as collaboration with applicable stakeholders, to identify system and process improvements based on critical incident reviews to enhance operational effectiveness and safety; improvements may include programmatic reforms and infrastructure enhancements which demand long-term planning. Identify risks associated with recommended improvements, along with strategies to mitigate them; develop recommendations for resource allocations to implement identified improvements. Report recommendations to division leadership and other agency leaders as applicable; develop formal reports, trainings, and/or presentations as necessary. Required Qualifications A minimum of three years of experience as a field supervisor in the Community Corrections Division within the WA State Department of Corrections. And must possess and maintain a vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Washington. The successful candidate will also possess the following REQUIRED
knowledge, skills and abilities: Understanding and working knowledge of management and supervision of individuals, including behavior management, security, and safety; and programs, including preparation of individuals for successful supervision in the community. Knowledge of current Department of Corrections policies/procedures, RCWs, WACs, and ACA standards. Experience applying the Sentencing Reform Act, particularly as it pertains to Community Placement, the Offender Accountability Act, and Sentencing Alternatives. Experience as a supervisor in the effective application of Human Resource practices to maintain a trained and diverse workforce. Desirable Qualifications Working knowledge of the Gregg Reference Manual for grammar, usage, and style. Personnel investigation and caseload audit experience. Demonstrated ability to provide positive leadership in times of stress, conflict, and unforeseen events; remain calm and rational while handling difficult situations to include volatile, threatening, or other crisis and emergency situations; and expertly intervene in response to threats.
