Director, Finance & Ops, YC Foundation Salary $86,361.60 - $112,278.40 Annually Location Prescott, AZ Job Type Full Time Job Number 2026-00100 Department YC Foundation Opening Date 03/27/2026 Description Benefits Questions Description of Position The Director of Finance & Operations is responsible for the financial integrity and operational excellence of Yavapai College Foundation. This role ensures that all philanthropic resources are managed with integrity, transparency, and alignment with donor intent to maximize the Foundation's impact on students and the college. The Director partners with the Chief Development Officer to strengthen operational systems, support fundraising initiatives, and foster a high-performance, mission-driven culture across the Foundation.
Mission:
In partnership with Yavapai College and our community, the Foundation harnesses private generosity to empower students and advance innovation that drives educational access, workforce readiness and long-term economic vitality. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Stewardship Partner closely with the Chief Development Officer to ensure financial systems, processes, and reporting effectively support fundraising strategy. Perform core accounting functions and ensure restricted gifts are managed in accordance with donor intent. Prepare timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements and supporting reports. Develop and manage the Foundation's annual budget, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Direct the annual audit and IRS Form 990 process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax preparers. Partner with investment advisors and serve as staff liaison to the Finance & Audit Committee. Strategic Operations & Infrastructure Design, implement, and continuously improve operational and financial systems that support efficiency, scalability, and strong internal controls. Ensure operational readiness for capital campaigns, major gifts, and complex giving vehicles (e.g., pledges, stock, planned gifts). Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to support data-informed decision-making by the Chief Development Officer and the Board. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and nonprofit regulations, internal policies, and donor agreements. Cross-Functional Leadership Provide direct supervision and leadership for Foundation staff across finance, operations, and administrative functions, fostering a high-performing, values driven and accountable team environment. Oversee day-to-day workflow, prioritization, and operational execution across the Foundation. Serve as a key liaison between the Foundation and Yavapai College finance and administrative departments, ensuring alignment while maintaining appropriate separation and compliance. Positions providing direct executive-level support to the Chief Development Officer are excluded from this role's supervisory scope. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Expectations & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. 7+ years of progressive experience in financial management and operations, preferably in a nonprofit, foundation, or higher education environment. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting (GAAP), fund accounting, and financial reporting. Experience managing audits and IRS Form 990 preparation. Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership and Board audiences. High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism. Preferred Skills & Abilities Experience working with a college or university foundation. Experience supporting capital campaigns or major fundraising initiatives. Familiarity with endowment and investment management. Experience with donor CRM and financial systems (e.g., Blackbaud Financial Edge, Raiser's Edge). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strategic thinker with strong financial and operational acumen. Ability to build and scale systems that support organizational growth. Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly with executive leadership and Board members. Strong project management and process improvement capabilities. Collaborative leadership style with the ability to partner effectively across advancement, finance, and college stakeholders. Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. College's partial payment of premiums toward medical with pharmacy and/or dental plan options picked by employees for themselves (and eligible dependents)

Additional term life insurance coverage available for employee, spouse and children.
Other Insurance Coverage:
Short Term and Long Term Disability (replacement income insurance), and Workers' Compensation (compensation, medical expenses and death benefits for on-the-job injuries or occupational diseases)
RETIREMENT BENEFITS
Retirement Benefits:
Arizona State Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan, and Social Security (which provides a basic retirement annuity based on age and years of contribution)
Tax Deferred Annuities:
Employees' contributions to designated tax-deferred annuities
Unemployment Compensation:
Employees who are laid off or terminated may receive benefits in covered wages meet requirements
LEAVE BENEFITS
Vacation :
15 days of Vacation leave annually.
NOTE:
For employees who work an amount of contractual days, there will be no earned vacation.
Sick Leave:
12 days sick leave annually.
NOTE:
Employees working less than full time or an amount of contractual days will receive a proration of sick leave.
Personal Leave:
Use of up to three personal leave days per year which are charged against accumulated sick leave to take care of items of personal business
Other Leave:
Bereavement leave, Civic Duty Leave (Jury duty, active military duty, military training), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Holidays:
24 days during the year as paid holidays for full-time employees which include Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, 3 days at Thanksgiving, 10 days at Winter/year-end break, Martin Luther King Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth.
OTHER BENEFITS
Breaking Bread:
32 meal swipes for use at the Prescott Campus Eatery. All Other Campuses and Sites receive a $140 credit each semester (fall and spring) to be used at the Open Market on campus/center
Spanish Interpreter Incentive Program:
Employees interested in additional compensation for their Spanish speaking skills agree to assist YC by attending two recruiting events and being available for Spanish Interpretation needs as they arise. Compensation is added to the employee's regular pay at the rate of $175 per month. Employees that are interested in participating let your HR Business Partner know, so they can schedule you for the ACTFL language proficiency test at the YC testing center.
Direct Deposit:
Paychecks deposited directly into the employee's bank account(s)
Tuition Waiver:
Eligible Full-time Faculty and Staff, their legally married spouse, and eligible dependents may enroll in a partial or full program of coursework without payment of tuition, exceptions may be lab fees and market-based additional fees
Sabbatical:
Faculty, professional, and administrative staff may apply for compensated leave of up to a year after six years of continuous service
