Job Summary A Southern California municipality is seeking an experienced Assistant Deputy City Clerk for a contract assignment of approximately 6 months in Cerritos, CA. This temporary opportunity is ideal for a municipal clerk professional with strong City Clerk support experience, hands-on elections administration knowledge, and a solid understanding of California local government requirements. The Assistant Deputy City Clerk will support the City Clerk's Office with City Council and public meeting administration, official records, public notices, public records requests, election-related documentation, and regulatory compliance. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful public sector work in a structured, service-focused environment that values accuracy, professionalism, transparency, and responsive support to elected officials, staff, and the community. Key Responsibilities
- Support City Council and public meetings, including agenda preparation, meeting attendance, minute-taking, follow-up documentation, and records management.
- Assist with compliance related to the Brown Act, Public Records Act, Political Reform Act, and other California municipal regulations.
- Coordinate legal notices, public hearings, official filings, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, claims, subpoenas, and other city documents.
- Process campaign disclosures, Statements of Economic Interests, Form 700 filings, and election-related documentation.
- Respond to public records requests and provide accurate information to elected officials, city staff, residents, and community stakeholders.
- Maintain records retention systems and assist with special projects within the City Clerk's Office. Compensation and Benefits
Compensation:
$30.00 to $36.00 per hour.- Assignment type: Contract/temporary.

Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
