Job Description

The Management Intern will gain professional experience that will be valuable for the future or current career in the public or private sector. Working alongside a management team and staff, they will be involved in a wide variety of tasks focused on City improvement. The City is looking for creative, passionate, bright individuals who are dedicated to reinventing government and imprinting their ideas on the fabric of a city, and are:

Play an important role coordinating, facilitating, and managing projects that require the involvement of multiple departments and utilize various skill sets.
LEADERS:
Be dedicated to becoming effective leaders by gaining experience in different aspects of local government. Successful individuals will have the requisite skills, knowledge, and ability to: Perform complex business/statistical analyses and communicate results in a clear/concise manner. Make sound business decisions under tight deadlines. Effectively engage a diverse audience and present information to citizens, city management and employees, and elected officials. Work well independently and in a team setting. Enrollment in a Master of Public Administration or similar graduate program is preferred.
Duties:
Prepare administrative letters for the Community Development Department. Participate in revitalization efforts for the City's historic downtown. Assist with HR functions and organization. Assist with budget development and analysis. General data analysis for improved organization efficiency. Manage communications and public relations for the City Manager. Assist in the City's Economic Development program Work with the City's safety committee to ensure proper procedures are in place. Other duties as assigned.
