A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Seven years of increasingly responsible professional level public and Recreation and Senior Services experience, including at least three years of management and supervisory experience.

Education:

Completion of coursework leading to a bachelor's degree in recreation administration, public administration or a closely related field. A master's degree in public administration or a related field is desirable.

License/Certificate:

Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record may be required.
