Duties Help As the Director of the Criminal Section, the successful candide: Manages the Section, setting nional federal civil rights prosecution priorities, and supervises an office of managers, trial torneys, and professional administrive support staff. Coordines and builds coalitions with law enforcement partners (FBI, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Labor, Department of Ste, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and local agencies), United Stes Attorney Offices, and non-governmental groups. Manages nional civil rights training program th provides civil rights skills trainings to thousands of law enforcement officers. Conducts, supervises, and reviews the enforcement of federal criminal civil rights and reled stutes. Investiges and prosecutes persons for violions of federal criminal stutes, including civil rights violions under color of law, he crimes, conspiracies, and reled crimes such as obstruction, false stements, and immigrion and visa crimes. Supervises preparion of each aspect of cases including the investigion, records analysis, drafting and filing of indictment and informion, plea negotiions, trial, and sentencing of the case; timely directs stregy and planning. Consults and advises, sometimes on an emergency basis, with the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, and the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, reporting on the immedie stus of civil rights mters involving criminal violions; advises and consults with the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights and Deputy Assistant Attorney Generals; coordines with other litigion section chiefs and United Stes Attorneys; and functions or confers closely with the public (and their delegions), law enforcement agencies and boards, et al. Authorizes and supervises prosecution of cases by United Stes Attorneys, including filing of indictment and informion, trial and appelle proceedings, post-trial colleral tacks on convictions, and the like. May be required to personally present evidence to the grand jury on cases of nional and in some cases internional importance. Personally may direct the preparion and trial of important cases. Requirements Help Conditions of employment You must be a U.S. Citizen to qualify for this position. The Executive Core Qualificions (ECQs) and Mandory Technical Qualificion must be demonstred in your resume. You must complete a background investigion, to include pre-employment drug testing. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion and adjudicion of your background investigion and award of a Top-Secret security clearance. You must have a Juris Doctore degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Associion and be an active member in good standing of the bar of a ste or territory of the US, the District of Columbia or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
