General Description of the Position The Director of Master of Public Health Program is a full-time, 12-month faculty position. The Director of Master of Public Health Program is responsible for the program's overall management and strategic process to ensure it aligns with the University's academic and professional goals. This is a tenure-track position; therefore, the applicant may be tenure-eligible. The Director of the Master of Public Health Program reports directly to the PAHS Chair. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Essential Functions The following are the functions essential to performing this job: Teach courses within the Public Health curriculum. Possible courses may include but are not limited to: Public Health Informatics & Communication, Substance Use & Abuse, Observation & Fieldwork, Health Disparities, Principles of Epidemiology, Environmental Health, and Health Practicum.
Synthesize, coordinate, and supervise Public Health-related research.
Advise and/or mentor Public Health majors.
Participate in University/College/Department/Professional committees.
Engage in community service.
Demonstrate, maintain, and continue professional competence and knowledge of subject matter.
Develop and implement an effective, innovative system, including recruitment, marketing, operations, communication, community engagement, academic development, budget control, and finance.
The program director will work with the faculty, staff, leadership team, and business community stakeholders to review existing processes and determine whether efficiency gains in the program are appropriate. Collaboration with other DSU academic and administrative offices, such as Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Administration, to accelerate the flow of student information and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities: Provide strategic and operational expertise and oversight for the program. Coordinates program implementation, enrollment, management curriculum, innovation and development, and assurance of learning through program assessment in partnership with faculty, advisory committees, and Department Chairs.
Develop marketing and recruitment initiatives for the continued enhancement and growth of the program, which includes outreach strategies for promoting the program internationally as well as in the United States
Serve as a representative for DSU in community development events and international programs that showcase the university and identify opportunities to expand the program. Serves as the primary point of contact for prospective students.
Promote the program at information sessions.
Collaborates in the review of applications for admission and makes admissions recommendations to The Graduate School
Works with Academic Unit Heads to schedule faculty for the program class offerings
Provide written teaching performance feedback to faculty for development and use in annual evaluation.
Estimates revenues and expenses for consideration and input into the annual report for the program budget.
Teach up to 3 courses per semester. Ensure adjunct instructors meet faculty qualification standards.
Creates program objectives, sets goals, and reports outcomes.
Manages the student grade appeal process.
Assists in mediating and resolving student and personnel issues to assure due diligence and fairness.
Other duties as assigned. Qualification Standards Education—Doctorate in a related discipline is preferred; however, the Director must hold at least a master's degree in a related program of study with demonstrated experience in the field. Skills and experience in leadership and program management. Experience - A successful record of teaching and research, grant writing, and building community partnerships is preferred.
