Description

In this position, the Court Liaison Specialist will coordinate and schedule legal proceedings, such as court appearances and depositions between Fort Lauderdale Police Officers, Public Safety Aides and other police department personnel, the Clerk of Courts, the City Prosecutor, the Office of the State Attorney, Public Defender's Office, and private attorneys.
In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).
Accepts, processes, and uploads Offense reports for Patrol Officers and Records Unit to for transmission to the State Attorney's Office.
Accepts, processes, and distributes subpoenas in a timely manner from State Attorney's Office, Public Defenders Office, Private Attorneys, City Prosecutors Office, and the Clerk of Courts.
Checks Odyssey (Clerk of Courts database) for case status and cancels court standby accordingly to minimize Officers paid court overtime.
Checks Telestaff (Internal Police live scheduling database) for pending overtime requests and process accordingly.
Receives, documents, and enters Officers and Public Safety Aides (PSAs) leave times in Court Trak (subpoena tracking database) and SAFES (SAO database).
Responds to phone and email requests from State Attorney's Office, Public Defenders Office, City Prosecutors Office, and Clerk of Courts. Resets Officers and PSAs depositions to on duty time to minimize court overtime expenses whenever possible.

RMS/OSSI
database to search for reports and other court related paperwork. Prepares statistical reports regarding Felony, Misdemeanor, Juvenile, Traffic, Deposition cases. Prepares and mails voided Traffic Citations to Tallahassee. Accepts, processes, and distributes returned Traffic Citations to Police Officers and PSAs for corrections. Sorts confiscated drivers' licenses, other ID's and sends to Tallahassee. Performs related work as required. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency One (1) year experience in police support activities. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education. Successfully complete an in-depth employment background check, including a polygraph exam, will be conducted as part of the post offer onboarding process as this position is deemed security sensitive If claiming Veterans' Preference, you must attach a copy of the DD214 Member 4 form (or other supporting claim documents) to your on-line application.Preference Qualifications:
Experience working in any court related entity, such as State Attorney's Office, Public Defender, or law enforcement agency's court liaison unit. Experience utilizing court databases such as CCIS or Broward County's Odyssey program.Special Requirements:
