POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Organ Services of South Florida Donor Network oversees the recruitment, training, and supervision of the organ recovery team, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. This includes adherence to clinical standards established by CMS, OPTN/HRSA, and AOPO. The role requires fostering collaborative relationships with internal departments, hospital staff, physicians, transplant centers, and community stakeholders to maximize donation and transplantation outcomes. The Director plays a key role in regulatory inspections, data reporting, and the development of innovative practices to advance organ recovery and transplantation. This position demands strong leadership, frequent on-call availability, and the ability to drive continuous improvement while ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and operational efficiency.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Build and maintain positive relationships with internal teams, hospital staff, key physicians, transplant centers, and community stakeholders. Collaborate with various departments (Quality, Donation Development, Tissue & Ocular, Administration) to improve systems, education, and communication.Oversee staff management:
skill development, job descriptions, annual evaluations, and performance monitoring. Ensure policies and procedures comply with regulatory standards (OPTN/HRSA, AOPO, FDA, CDC, DHHS). Lead CMS and OPTN inspections, data reporting, and system updates. Support technology evaluation to advance organ recovery and transplantation. Conduct or assign staff and community education and in-service programs. Ensure best practices and adherence to clinical policies for organ recovery and transplantation. Work with Medical Director to maximize organ recovery, transplantation, and tissue/eye donation. Provide training and guidance in donor management, surgical recovery, preservation, and placement. Manage staff retention strategies in collaboration with People, Culture & Development. Represent the organization at national meetings Ensure timely reporting and record accuracy. Perform other duties as needed to support organizational goals. Employees must adhere to and remain in full compliance with South Florida Donor Network's Motor Vehicle Driving Policy as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Records and Driver Safety policy PC.334.Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) in healthcare field; Master's Degree preferred; years of experience may be considered in lieu of educationExperience:
Three to seven years healthcare related experience; minimum of 3 years experience in organ procurement preferredComputer Skills:
Knowledge of MS office programs; electronic medical recordsCertificates & Licenses:
Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) required.Other Requirements:
