Job Description

The Miller County Government is now accepting applications for the position of a Full-Time Economic Development Director. This position is under supervision of the County Manager and supports and coordinates a variety of economic and business development activities aimed at attracting, retaining, and expanding businesses within the community. Assists with program planning, stakeholder engagement, research, marketing, and administrative functions to promote economic growth, support redevelopment efforts, and enhance the overall business environment. Provides information and assistance to business prospects, developers, and existing businesses while helping implement strategic initiatives aligned with the County's economic development goals. Occasional irregular hours are required to support evening and weekend programs and events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with web site, management and updates. Assists in planning, scheduling, coordinating and staffing economic development events and programs. Responds to requests for information from business prospects, consultants and developers and assists potential new business in site selection; coordinates key activities to facilitate the location process. Assists in preparing reports on economic development and redevelopment activities for the Board of Commissioners and the Miller County Economic Development Authority. Research and identify public and private grant opportunities Write, edit, and submit grant proposals, applications, and supporting documentation. Track submission deadlines, reporting requirements, and award timelines Irregular hours are required to support evening and weekend programs and events. Serves as a primary point of contact for business inquiries, prospects, consultants, and developers. Assist prospective businesses with site selection and coordinates activities to support the location and expansion process. Meet regularly with existing businesses in the county to maintain relationships, identify needs, and support retention and expansion efforts. Assists in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and staffing business-focused events, outreach, and programs. Supports marketing and redevelopment strategies for commercial districts and assists in preparing business attraction materials. Conducts research on commercial market trends, business needs, and redevelopment opportunities. Assists with website content and updates related to business resources and opportunities. Prepare reports on business-related economic development activities for the Board of Commissioners as well as the Miller County Economic Development Authority. Coordinates with staff, developers, property owners, and stakeholders to support business and commercial projects. Assists in marketing and promoting the county to potential investors, developers, and businesses. Meets with other staff to implement action plans. Assists the Downtown Development Director and Chamber of Commerce Director in marketing materials regarding the city.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, and
  • Two (2) years of previous administrative experience and working with the public.
  • Associate degree in Business Administration or related field, and familiarity with local Government boards and commissions are preferred.
  • Possess exemplary communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with community development, community-based organizations or collaborative initiatives
  • Possess experience with grant writing.
  • No disqualifying criminal history.
  • Must have valid driver's license.

$40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
