Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Public Works to lead and oversee the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of public infrastructure projects. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for project management and community development. As the Director, you will champion innovative solutions to enhance community services, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and foster collaboration across departments and external partners. Your leadership will drive efficiency, sustainability, and excellence in public works initiatives that serve our community's needs. Duties Provide visionary leadership for all public works projects, including roads, sidewalks, water treatment facilities, and wastewater systems. Oversee project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. Manage construction management activities such as construction inspection, schematics development, and system design to guarantee quality standards are met. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards through rigorous construction inspection and system monitoring. Lead technical writing efforts for project documentation such as reports, schematics, schematics drawings, and system specifications. Foster collaboration among stakeholders including government agencies, contractors, consultants, and community members to promote transparency and shared goals. Work in collaboration with other city staff to complete grant applications and access target areas for future projects. Build and manage a team of people to maintain and advance the cities infrastructure in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Qualifications Extensive experience in construction management with proven success overseeing large-scale public infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of project management principles including project scheduling and estimating techniques. Ability to safely operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, and related machinery- Preferred not required Experience with municipal programs involving the EPA, Motor Fuel Tax, and TIF districts. Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed technical reports and present complex information clearly. Demonstrated leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary teams addressing streets, sidewalks, cemetery, water and wastewater infrastructure. Knowledge of system design principles for public infrastructure projects involving pipelines or water systems is highly desirable. Working knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in roadway maintenance and repair. Public Water Supply Operators certification and/or Wastewater Treatment Works Operator Certification Preferred Join us in shaping resilient infrastructure that supports vibrant communities! Pay:
$75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
