PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST
(TITLE 5), GS-1035-11, you will carry-out a wide range of public affairs assignments th include elements of visual informion, social media, media operions, community engagement, command informion, communicion planning, contingency/crisis response, environmental, security, policy review, and public affairs resource management in support of the mission and the commander's priorities. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Coordines the planning and development of complex, high level public affairs assignments in support of commander's programs and priorities. Carries out public affairs tasks th support the wing commander's priorities through the integrion of visual informion, social media, community engagement, command informion, communicion planning, contingency/crisis response, media operions, environmental, security and policy review, and public affairs resource management activities. Responds to requests for informion, merials and support; and plans and conducts community engagement activities with community officials and groups. Maintains an active web/social media presence, provides visual informion services for documention and/or publicity purposes and plans and arranges news media coverage. Evalues the propriety and advisability of agency support of/ participion in local activities, programs, and events. For approved events, coordines support requests from community and community groups, schools, news media organizions, and others to include requests for interviews, speakers, tours, bands, honor guards, and aviion support and support of local observances and celebrions. Researches, drafts, coordines, produces, and reviews public affairs products such as, web-based content, photographs, videos, news and feure articles, news releases, talking points, fact sheets, briefings, speeches and scripts, newsletters, and other merials. Modifies standard methods and adapts approaches in developing new informion merials aimed enhancing the understanding of groups or individuals of significant issues concerning agency programs. Maintains effective working relionships with officials of various senior wing leadership, civic, news media, community groups, Department of Defense personnel, as well as local, ste and nional government officials, and the general public. Manages audio visual equipment for section. Appointed as the Wing Visual Informion Manager per current DoD directives. AREA OF CONSIDERATION
: The areas of considerions for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), the only area of considerion for this position all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing de of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks the GS-9 Level. An SF-50 th shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your applicion merials.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: GS-11 Level MUST possess least 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to least GS-9: experience, educion, or training involving a thorough knowledge of writing and communicion principles, methods and techniques th rele to public affairs of the military; experience developing new informion merials including news releases, fact sheets, brochures, booklets, broadcast spots, etc., th increase communicion with the agency's audiences; experience making on-the-spot presentions to audiences with opposing points of view or erroneous understanding of agency positions; experience responding timely and appropriely to requests for informion concerning agency programs and services. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment.
