Reporting directly to the City Manager, this executive leadership position oversees the City's Public Services Department, including Streets, Stormwater, Sanitation, and Parks & Facilities operations. The position provides a unique opportunity to lead essential municipal services while helping guide the long-term planning and maintenance of infrastructure that supports residents, businesses, and regional employers. Arkansas City is seeking a leader who brings technical expertise, strategic vision, and collaborative leadership to continue delivering high-quality public services and infrastructure stewardship. The Public Services Superintendent provides executive leadership and operational oversight for the City's Public Services Department.

Qualifications Minimum qualifications include:

Bachelor's degree in public administration, public works management, civil engineering technology, or related field (or equivalent experience) Five years of progressively responsible municipal public works or public services experience Three years of supervisory or management experience Valid driver's license Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within the required timeframe Preferred qualifications include: Advanced degree in public administration, engineering, or management Experience overseeing multiple operational divisions Experience with infrastructure planning and capital improvement programs Compensation and Benefits $88,303 - $119,468 (depending on qualifications and experience) Benefits Package The City of Arkansas City offers a competitive benefits package including: KPERS Retirement System Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid vacation and holidays Professional development opportunities Cell phone allowance All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States and proof of eligibility must be provided if selected for hire.
