We are a beloved Jewish preschool rooted in a strong tradition of play-based learning, outdoor exploration, and community connection. We're looking for a leader who will become a cherished part of our extended family while guiding the educational vision of our school. This role is part of a collaborative leadership structure, working alongside an operations-focused partner to ensure excellence across all aspects of the preschool. Who You Are You are a passionate early childhood educator and leader who: Loves children, teachers, and families, and builds deep, meaningful relationships Believes learning happens through play, imagination, unstructured time, and the outdoors Is highly visible, approachable, and prioritizes strong parent communication Brings warmth and joy while maintaining professionalism and structure Leads through collaboration, presence, and trust—not control Values team building and fosters a culture of appreciation and connection Sees the big picture while honoring the unique strengths of each teacher Our Ideal Candidate Has Classroom and leadership experience in early childhood education A bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field Experience mentoring, coaching, and inspiring teaching teams A background in Jewish education, Jewish communal life, or openness to engaging in Jewish values and traditions A growth mindset and experience guiding teams through change and collaboration Strong interpersonal skills with experience working with families, clergy, and community stakeholders What You'll Do Educational Leadership (Primary Focus) Oversee curriculum implementation rooted in play-based and developmentally appropriate practices Support, coach, and evaluate teachers to ensure classroom excellence Guide child development strategies, including behavior support and inclusion Maintain compliance with licensing standards related to classroom practice Preserve and strengthen the unique culture and traditions of AJ Preschool Programming & Community Engagement Develop and enhance preschool programming, including enrichment opportunities and family engagement events Partner with synagogue leadership to expand and support youth programming beyond preschool, helping to build a continuum of engagement for families Strengthen the connection between the preschool and the broader synagogue community Leadership & Collaboration Partner with the Executive Childcare Coordinator / Operations Lead to ensure smooth daily operations Maintain clear roles, communication, and accountability across leadership Serve as a steady, trusted presence for staff and families Help lead the school through growth, change, and strategic opportunities Schedule & Structure Full-time position aligned with preschool hours, with flexibility based on program needs Ideal for a seasoned educator or leader looking to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative environment
