Job Description

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. Six years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities; OR Three years of experience in investigatory work, social services, nursing, or as a medical laboratory technician or assistant plus three years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities; OR An advanced degree in epidemiology, public health, in a biological science, or nursing plus two years of experience in disease investigation and prevention activities. Job Duties:
Direct and oversee regional tuberculosis (TB) case management, contact investigations, and disease control activities to ensure compliance with state and programmatic policies and procedures. Supervise and provide guidance to Disease Intervention Specialists, Infection Control Technicians, and support staff while monitoring program performance and service delivery. Manage the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of TB program data, including compliance metrics, delinquency reports, and patient management outcomes. Ensure accurate, timely, and complete entry and reporting of patient information in electronic health records, surveillance databases, and state disease reporting systems. Coordinate and administer regional TB clinics, collaborating with physicians and local health units to ensure appropriate patient follow-up, treatment, and continuity of care. Serve as a technical resource to healthcare providers, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, universities, and community partners on TB prevention, treatment, reporting requirements, and case management practices. Promote and strengthen TB control efforts by developing partnerships, providing education and consultation, and supporting public health initiatives that reduce disease transmission and improve patient outcomes.
