Department CS-Division of Administrative Law Opening Date 05/08/2026 Closing Date 5/18/2026 11:59 PM Central About this Job The Division of Administrative Law is Louisiana's centralized administrative hearings panel. When disputes arise between certain state agencies and the people and entities they regulate, administrative law judges at DAL provide fair, prompt, and orderly adjudication. The Executive Staff Officer position is located within the Director's Office of the Division of Administrative Law (DAL) and serves as the confidential assistant to the Director. The Executive Staff Officer is responsible for coordinating a wide range of administrative, operational, payroll, fiscal, personnel, and executive support functions for the agency. The incumbent exercises a high degree of independent judgment and initiative in managing daily operations, handling sensitive and confidential matters, coordinating special projects, supporting strategic planning and reporting efforts, and ensuring compliance with state and agency policies and procedures. This position requires extensive knowledge of agency operations and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in administrative services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in administrative services; OR An advanced degree, or a Juris Doctorate, plus two years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties :
Provides confidential executive-level administrative and operational support to the Director and agency leadership. Relieves agency leadership and division heads of a variety of administrative, operational, payroll, personnel, and fiscal matters. Composes and transmits directives, assignments, correspondence, and other communications on behalf of agency leadership. Coordinates payroll administration, timekeeping audits, adjustments, leave tracking, and related reporting functions. Assists with budgeting, purchasing, procurement, reimbursements, travel coordination, and other fiscal activities. Coordinates employee onboarding activities, personnel records, background screenings, and other human resources-related functions. Assists with strategic planning initiatives, operational reporting, performance indicator tracking, and special projects. Maintains agency records, schedules, surveys, contact lists, and agency-wide communications. Serves as liaison with external agencies, vendors, building management, and state offices regarding administrative and operational matters. Maintains confidentiality while handling sensitive personnel, budgetary, and organizational information. Assists with agency compliance, reporting requirements, and implementation of administrative procedures and policies.

Preferred Qualifications:
