Job Summary:
The Resident Services Coordinator is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, implementation, and oversight of resident-focused programs and supportive services designed to enhance quality of life, promote housing stability, and foster a strong sense of community among residents. This role serves as a critical liaison between residents, property management, service providers, and community agencies, ensuring that services are delivered in alignment with the approved Resident Service Plan, the Land Use Restriction Agreement (LURA), and all applicable regulatory and company requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation Plan, coordinate, market, organize, and conduct a diverse range of resident programs, workshops, activities, and services that address social, educational, health, financial, and recreational needs. Implement and execute the approved Resident Service Plan in a manner that aligns with regulatory requirements, funding restrictions, and organizational objectives. Work collaboratively with Resident Associations (where applicable) and individual residents to design programming that is inclusive, responsive, and impactful. Case Management and Resident Advocacy Provide general case management services, including resident intake, needs assessment, goal setting, service planning, and follow-up. Maintain a comprehensive and current directory of reliable, affordable, and accessible community service providers. Make appropriate referrals to social service agencies, healthcare providers, educational institutions, employment resources, and government programs. Advocate on behalf of residents, and when appropriate, negotiate with service providers to secure timely, cost-effective, and appropriate services. Assist property management in identifying residents who may benefit from supportive services, while maintaining resident confidentiality and professional boundaries. Partnerships and Community Engagement Develop, cultivate, and maintain strong working relationships with social service agencies, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and local, state, and federal government agencies. Establish and manage volunteer support programs with community organizations to expand service capacity and resident engagement. Meet with service providers as needed to coordinate services, evaluate performance, and ensure alignment with resident needs and program goals. Compliance, Documentation, and Risk Management Ensure that all resident services activities comply with company policies, the Resident Service Plan, the LURA, and applicable regulatory agency requirements. Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation at the site level, including intake forms, service plans, referrals, attendance records, outcomes tracking, and required reports. Monitor and evaluate the delivery of services to ensure they are appropriate, timely, effective, and satisfactory. Maintain strict adherence to the Federal Fair Housing Act, ensuring that all services and programs are offered without preference, limitation, or discrimination based on any protected class. Report all suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation situations to the appropriate authorities in accordance with mandatory reporting laws and company policy. Communication and Resident Outreach Develop, publish, and distribute a monthly resident newsletter and activities calendar that clearly communicates available services, upcoming events, and community resources. Provide excellent customer service to residents, service providers, and internal stakeholders, consistently demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness, and respect. Communicate effectively with management regarding program performance, resident needs, emerging issues, and opportunities for service enhancement. Professional Development and Training Maintain compliance with all required training and continuing education related to service coordination, Fair Housing, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements. Stay informed of best practices, emerging trends, and changes in regulations impacting resident services and affordable housing.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
(Minimum degree needed or any certification) High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, or a closely related field required. A combination of relevant education and directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree where permitted by program or funding requirements. Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in resident services, service coordination, case management, or community-based social services, preferably within an affordable housing, multifamily housing, nonprofit, or public-sector environment. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including low-income households, seniors, families, or special needs populations, with the ability to assess needs and connect residents to appropriate community resources. Working knowledge of federal, state, and local housing or social service programs, including entitlement programs and community-based assistance initiatives, strongly preferred. Prior experience collaborating with external service providers, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to deliver coordinated services and support resident stability. Experience maintaining accurate documentation, reports, and records in compliance with regulatory, funding, and organizational requirements. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and exercising sound judgment in sensitive or complex situations.
Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of local and regional community resources, social service networks, and support programs. Demonstrated ability to manage resident services, including strong organizational, problem-solving, and resident advocacy skills. Working knowledge of legal and liability considerations associated with service coordination and resident referrals. Familiarity with federal and state entitlement programs, including eligibility requirements and application processes.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
(If applicable) Stand & walk or sit alternatively depending on specific needs of the day. Estimate 20% of time is spent on feet and 80% sitting at desk. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Frequent need to perform the following physical activities: bend/stoop/squat, filing, climb stairs, open and close doors, reach above shoulders, store/retrieve supplies, Constant need to perform the following repetitive physical activities: writing/typing, client communications, telephone communications, use of office equipment and the physical handling of resident/property paperwork, folders and files. Driving and Travel Frequent need to utilize personal transportation to: Travel to properties or meeting locations to audit or train on compliance topics. Must have valid driver s license and automobile insurance.
