Job Description
Job Overview The Children's Community Head Start Birth to Five Program is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Start/Early Head Start Director to lead our early childhood education programs dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young children and supporting their families. The Director will oversee the strategic direction, day-to-day operational management, and overall compliance of the Head Start Program Performance Standards, as well as locally designed initiatives. The Director's leadership must inspire teams, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services that promote early learning, health, and family well-being. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's futures while advancing organizational excellence. Duties Oversee program operations, ensuring compliance with Head Start/Early Head Start performance standards and NY State Office of Children and Families regulatory requirements. Lead strategic planning efforts to expand program reach, improve service quality, and enhance community engagement. Manage budgets effectively, including planning, monitoring expenditures, and securing additional funding through In-Kind donations. Supervise management staff, including program managers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. Cultivate strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, families, and funding agencies to support program sustainability and growth. Promote a positive organizational culture emphasizing leadership development, staff supervision, public speaking engagements, and effective communication across all levels. Ensure governance oversight with the Board of Directors and Policy Council. Requirements Master's Degree in Early Childhood Administration or Human Services WITH prior experience running a non-profit organization or grant funded program Proven experience in education administration or early childhood program management with a focus on Head Start or similar programs. Excellent strategic planning skills with the ability to translate vision into actionable goals and objectives. Budgeting experience managing multiple funding streams, and the ability to prioritize spending. Prior senior leadership experience in managing teams and supervising staff effectively.
Knowledge of applicable regulations:
New York State OCFS Licensing Regulations and Head Start Program Performance Standards. Classroom teaching experience or working directly with young children is highly desirable. The ability to advocate for early childhood education initiatives publicly and within the community.Pay:
