Destination Development Manager

Overview The Vinton County Department of Tourism (Discover Vinton County) is seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting the sustainable growth of tourism and business development in rural Appalachian communities along the popular Hocking Hills region. Responsibilities Assist in identifying and engaging local tourism-related businesses and organizations Develop resources that support current and future tourism-related businesses and organizations Assist with planning and coordination of tourism economic activities and workshops Assist in identifying and engaging lodging destinations in Vinton County Manage collection of lodging tax Conduct research and prospecting on grant opportunities, tourism trends, and regional practices Conduct research on lodging and business data, trends, preferences, and economic impact Collaborate with Discover Vinton County staff on marketing initiatives Coordinate with Vinton County Department of Development on joint-efforts Qualifications Minimum Bachelor's degree in tourism, economic development, business, marketing, or related fields or 3-5 years of relevant work experience Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong research and analytical skills Familiarity with rural Appalachian priorities Experience with multiple development strategies Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products Must be able to be bonded It is preferred that candidates live in Vinton County or have an interest in relocating to Vinton County, but it is not required. $40,000.00 per year
