Job Description

The Senior Advocacy Coordinator performs a wide range of advocacy, government affairs, project coordination, and administrative support functions to advance PSBA's legislative and policy priorities. This position supports grassroots engagement, legislative tracking, communications, and association advocacy events, while serving as a key operational resource for the Government Affairs team. The role emphasizes coordination, implementation, and relationship building and does not include legal services responsibilities.
Essential job functions:
Government Affairs & Advocacy Support Provide comprehensive administrative and project support to the Government Affairs team in advancing PSBA's state and federal advocacy priorities. Assist in the preparation, coordination, and distribution of advocacy materials, position papers, testimony, briefing documents, and member communications. Support PSBA's grassroots advocacy program, including action alerts, legislator outreach, and coordination with school district leaders. Organize general legislative and education related updates that may be relevant to PSBA. Assist with gathering information and putting together reference materials to support advocacy related work. Legislative & Political Coordination Maintain and update records related to legislators, districts, committees, and key stakeholders. Monitor education‑related legislation, media coverage, and social media activity and report relevant developments to the Government Affairs team. Coordinate and file required lobbying disclosures, registrations, and renewals in accordance with state and federal requirements. Member Engagement & Events Assist in planning and coordinating advocacy‑related events, including Advocacy Day(s), Delegate Assembly, and Platform Committee meetings. Support communications and outreach to PSBA members related to advocacy initiatives, policy updates, and engagement opportunities. Maintain and cultivate relationships with school district personnel to support effective advocacy engagement and information‑gathering. Communications & Digital Advocacy Assist in drafting and editing advocacy content for publications, newsletters, websites, and member communications. Support digital advocacy efforts, including monitoring online conversations, assisting with social media engagement, and coordinating content seeding related to advocacy priorities. Serve as host or technical support for virtual advocacy meetings and member‑facing online events, as needed. Administrative & Operational Support Maintain organized records, correspondence, reports, and advocacy files for the Government Affairs team. Coordinate scheduling, meeting logistics, and document preparation related to advocacy initiatives. Support cross‑departmental collaboration on projects impacting advocacy, governance, and member services. Coordinate and file monthly/quarterly reports for lobbying expenses; file lobbyist registration and renewals. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the association. Ready to apply? Make sure you meet these education and experience requirements: Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of three years of experience providing administrative or project coordination support in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; experience with CRM systems, legislative tracking tools, or databases preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and proofreading ability. Highly organized, self‑motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities while supporting supervisory or management staff and engaging effectively with members and internal teams.
