Job Description:
Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Public Safety Instructor. The successful candidate will provide instruction to high school students in areas such as law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire protection, incident command, public safety operations, and workplace readiness skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of four (4) years documented experience in public safety (law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, or related field) within the past 10 years. Relevant volunteer experience (e.g., volunteer fire department or EMS service) may be considered toward meeting this requirement in accordance with current Pennsylvania guidelines. Strong knowledge of public safety systems, emergency response procedures, and safety practices. Ability to manage a lab/classroom environment and supervise student activities. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
PDE Career and Technical Instructional Certification (or the ability to obtain). Experience with EMS, fire service training, incident command systems (ICS/NIMS), or related certifications. Experience working with high school students or in an instructional setting.
Responsibilities Include:
Delivering hands-on and theoretical instruction aligned to industry standards and PDE Task Lists. Assessing student performance and maintaining accurate records. Coordinating student certifications and potential work-based learning opportunities. Collaborating with advisory committee members and local industry partners.
