The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Public Information Officer to lead strategic public relations, media outreach, and organizational communication initiatives. In this role, you will join an award-winning creative team to foster deep community trust, manage public awareness campaigns, and elevate LACOE's presence at a countywide level. The Public Information Officer plans, develops, and implements strategic communications activities; advises upon and manages effective media, community, and public relations; maintains editorial and graphics standards; and coordinates and produces special public events. Required Education and Experience Education:
A bachelor's degree with major coursework in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, graphic design, cinematic arts/film/television productions, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience:
Five years of experience in coordinating, developing, and implementing communications, media, and public relations activities for a communications, public relations, public affairs, or marketing department or agency.
Equivalency Provision:
A master's degree with major coursework in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, graphic design, cinematic arts/film/television productions, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification may substitute for two of the five years of experience. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Additional Requirements:
A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites is required. A master's degree in a closely related field and public sector experience are desired. Hybrid remote schedules may be available.
